Every single boxing fan I know loves big Tyson. The local pubs would be packed with people supporting him. Everyone from every gym I know would be! City centre trendy bars would be pro AJ. His popularity has grown massively. Unfortunately, I don't think he'll be back.

You say this all the time. You seem to ignore all the boxing fans on places like here who think the Wlad fight was rubbish and are tired of Fury being a fat mess.

I don't think he's ever been popular, but it's odd that his popularity has grown according to you when he's not been fighting.

This place is more than extremely biased towards Fury because Twitter tells a different story, Facebook tells a different story, etc. in terms of his popularity and views of his skills, accomplishments and personality. EVERYBODY wanted to see Fury vs Wilder and picked Fury to win that. EVERYBODY figured on Fury beating Klitschko in the rematch. But then he retired, and it seemed everyone turned on him. He admits to drug addiction, depression, etc and it only becomes fuel for more hatred, etc. Then comes along AJ beating an even older, slower, inactive KLITSCHKO just by the skin of his teeth and they equate that with such superb greatness that people automatically started asking, "Who would win AJ or Muhammad Ali?" and other ridiculous crap. The irony for me is, the British had an undisputed champion in Fury, but never took to him... Most in these forums are British or Irish... I can only suspect the mindset that all gypsies are thieves, liars, etc comes into play here considering gypsies are denied service in stores, bars, etc in many places across Europe. The last bit of "acceptable racism" in the world. And the British own it 100% and they will not deny it.

I doubt the Traveller aspect had much (if anything) to do with Tyson's downfall.

When he won the title he was lauded in the press for his achievement & the casual ate up his antics like the singing afterwards & the Batman incident. Despite it being one of the worst Heavyweight title fights EVER he was on the verge of becoming a huge star similar to AJ's current position.

It self destructed because of the things he said in the media afterwards, not because he's a gypsy. If it was down to racism against his heritage then he wouldn't have been in that position in the first place. You even say that everyone loved him but then turned on him due to his antics, so not because he's a traveller.

With a decent PR agent keeping that side of his personality away from the media there'd have been no issue. But it came out & understandably fans turned away from him. Then the rematch fell apart, then the drug revelations, then those who'd stuck by him got sick of his constant tweets about coming back.

Also you can't really compare Tyson's decline in popularity with AJ's rise. A former Gold medallist who has looked destructive in every fight & had a very exciting fight with Wlad is obviously going to trump Tyson's boring style. Obviously AJ is going to be the more popular of the two, especially with the Hearn & Sky hype behind him. That's nothing to do with racism against Travellers though.

I'm guessing you don't attend shows. Tyson is mobbed everywhere he goes. My mates wouldn't buy Wlad 2 tickets because of the prices.

Johnson was dull, Abell was a mess of a fight, Chisora 2 was crap and Del looked like a zombie who just didn't want to be there. It's hard to remember because not many were that good and they're so long ago. McDermott was a strange fight that he probably lost so not a great one for his list of thrillers.

It was boring. Fury won easy, I'm not doubting that, but it was dull. The first fight was a lot better in fairness.
