The long overdue mandatory fight between light heavyweight world champion Adonis Stevenson (29-1, 24 KOs) and Eleider “Storm” Alvarez (23-0, 11 KOs) is in the works, promoter Yvon Michel told ESPN on Wednesday. “We are looking for a December date in Quebec City,” said Michel of the fight that would match two Quebec-based fighters. Stevenson, who turned 40 last week, and Alvarez, 33, are on the same schedule as they fought on the same card in their last bouts on June 3 in Montreal. Stevenson drilled Andrzej Fonfara in the second round and Alvarez won a majority decision against former world champion Jean Pascal. For a variety of reasons, Stevenson, has not made a mandatory defense since stopping Tony Bellew in the sixth round in November 2013.
