EVERY. SINGLE. ONE of his title challengers has NOT been ranked in the Top 10 at the time Wilder fought them.Tony1244 wrote:I probably should have been more clear. I didn't think Spilkva was the 2nd coming, but some people did. He was one of the names that was supposed to be the successor to the Klitschko, as many thought only Eastern Europeans would rule the HW division. I don't want to be unclear again. That was the opinion of some people, not my opinion. I agree that Wilder's recent opponents haven't been all that bad. Ok, Arreola was a bit washed up.jamamb wrote:What the eff are you talking about? Utter bullshit.Tony1244 wrote:Wilder was overly protected coming up - that is true and undeniable and I say that as a Wilder fan.
But Spilkva was supposed to be the 2nd coming until Jennings and then Wilder knocked him out.
Povetkin and Ortiz can't get the needle out of their asses, so this isn't all Wilder's fault.
Szpilka got drubbed by Jennings too, and even stopped despite BJ's lack of power.
But Wilder's comp hasn't been nearly as bad as some like to paint it. PPL will poo on it then rate him as #2 or #3 in the division. His early opposition was so utterly bad and needlessly overmatched that there's lingering hate and bias from that.
EVERY. SINGLE. ONE!
