I DON'T listen to the American media, by-n-large... Those bastards gave us Donald Trump by not being vigilant enough in their reporting... I believe my own eyes -- and if somebody doesn't believe that fight was competitive they know absolutely nothing about Boxing... I had Duran winning by the way.

Sugar Ray had Leonard winning... When Ray raised both hands to claim victory following the fight Duran gave him a nasty shove... Roberto did win -- but that was one of the most unsportsmanlike actions I've ever seen from a World Boxing Champion.. That was a great fight -- don't provoke another exchange.

Yes, it was a great fight. Both threw leather for 15 rounds. But, Manos de Piedra whupped Sugar Ray. He was in command throughout the fight. He was aware of his surroundings and proved that he was a real all time great. This is the same crap when the media talks about The St Valentine's Day Massacre between the greats Ray Robinson and Jake LaMotta. That it was a great fight. But, when I see the tape Robinson whupped LaMotta from bell to bell.

The same is for Duran vs Leonard I. Duran whupped Leonard from post to post. It seemed like a close fight because of the clutching and grabbing by Leonard fighting for survival.

Ali vs Norton II....That was close

Funny how the 1st Leonard-Duran fight was closely contested...and in the rematch Leonard made Duran quit... Leonard learned more in the 1st fight than Duran learned and was able to craft a winning formula going forward... Who won the Leonard vs Duran trilogy/??? ... It's not a trick question.

I scored it again, and had Duran winning by 5 points, maybe 4. Three rounds were even: 1st, 10th, and 15th. Sugar Ray won between 3 to 4 rounds in my view: The 5th, 6th, 14th were his rounds, and maybe the 12th. Duran won the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 7th, 8th, 9th, 11th, and 13th.

Like I have told you Ambling Alp. Duran won the fight between 3 points minimum to 5 points maximum in a great performance. Duran showed all his skills in this fight. One of boxing's all time greatest performances.

Right...quitting a fight where you're not hurt and down by a point -- and losing a world title that's worth millions... That's freakin' brilliant.

Pull on your thinking cap for a second. Duran risked being FINED millions---or not getting paid at all---when he pulled a ridiculous NO MAS stunt like that..

And there're more considerations than the purse you're guaranteed for any fight that's signed, sealed, and generally delivered if you actually step into the ring and answer the opening bell.. You're still obliged to fight your best and not can the fight.. Duran is damned lucky the commission didn't rule against him -- because people were outraged as Hell, particularly losing bettors who got wiped.. If Duran beats Leonard again his ring record is phenomenally unbelievable -- and he probably gets many more millions for facing Hearns in his next fight than he did for Leonard -- that's how beating icons works. It keeps building.

A good example is the Tyson-Douglas Fight.. Getting knocked out by Tyson would give Douglas a comparatively nice paycheck, but it wasn't enough to change Buster's life style -- and that's all people expected of Buster.. They didn't expect him to train his ass off, make a career effort, and beat the shiit out of Tyson.. But Douglas knew damned well that if he BEAT Tyson he was set for life -- because for his next fight he would be the Lineal Heavyweight Champion of the World.. He could pretty much can the Holyfield fight after an extremely weak effort in training camp -- it made NO difference.. He had it made in the shade.. He would have to mess up royally once he actually answered the opening bell -- pull a Boardwalk Billy Smith or something.
