Exactly the words you used Mickey1975 was NEAR SELL OUT, the arena only holds 10k, so what did he sell 8k, 9k ??? still no where near the 20k Froch done at the O2 arena or 80k at Wembley, so at the end of the day hennessey couldn’t sell out an arena when he was looking after froch, he has provide that time and time again!
Hearn takes control and bam selling out arenas and 10’s of thousands at wembley. Can’t understand why people are sticking up for him, he has done nothing for the sport in recent years.
George Groves had as much to do with that as him. Bute nor Mack were sell outs and he took barely anyone to see the Ward fight. Eddie has some appalling attendances, he just lies about them!
I was at Bute and Mack and both sold out.
You can't argue that Hearn failed to promote Froch to his full potential. You also made the comment above about Sky getting ready to pull boxing completely and Hearn Snr having a lot of sport on Sky. Like what? Darts? A tiny bit of snooker and pool?

you're really banging your head against a brick wall arguing with Mickey1975 on this, mate. This is a man who thinks the only crime in London is "kids on bikes"

If you watch the Froch-Bute fight on YouTube with the volume up, you can actually hear the crickets in the audience.

I was there for both. If they weren't sold out they were ludicrously close. We got Mack tickets fairly late and were back of the top tier.
Either way, it's a nothing point. Mick took Carl to an internet stream and Hearn took him to Wembley. If we want to quibble about a few empty seats have a look at the 10,000+ in Manchester Arena the other week.

Or the 16,000+ at Hearns last O2 show?
What was Hennessy's shittest, money losing show Mick?

Didn't Hearn already have it booked? If he's got the venue for X then it can make sense to stick.
Hennessy spent a few months telling people the public would love this exciting heavyweight clash between two unbeaten fighters but everyone including you knew it would bomb horrifically.

Can you guide me through this Sky pulling the plug thing and explain how it meant Mick could only stick Froch Taylor on an internet stream?
I wasn't involved so no.
So how about not harping on like some pub bore about a subject you openly admit to knowing nothing about?
Oh, I didn't realise you were involved in the negotiations, what did go wrong, then?

how many on here could do that?
X2. Agree with both of you.
The internet is full of cocks that have never taken a chance mocking those who have.
I'm not here to gloat at Micks misfortune.
But let us be honest, taking a gamble that a forum full of non-promoters who know next to fvck all (I include myself in that), could see from a mile away was a loser, is not an admirable quality.
There's being ballsy and taking a 50/50 type gamble then there's chucking millions at an almost certain loss.
Pretty much everyone on here could see this was going to flop. Nobody likes to hear told-you-so but there were a few of the lads who are gloating on this thread who did actually tell us so and have now been vindicated.
So how about not harping on like some pub bore about a subject you openly admit to knowing nothing about?

Right. Shall we go back to your points about how Hearn got the Sky deal and how this affected Hennessy? Or are you just doing more man in a pub stuff?
I'll give you my opinion of why this has happened to Hennessy: he's a shite promoter. Sky had Sports Network/Hayemaker/Golden Boy fights on Box Office before and after Mick had Carl on an online stream. Mick blamed a recession which didn't seem to affect people buying Haye Valuev later that year in their droves. All his fighters seem to have ran a mile bar the Furys, one of whom is a retired blob. That should give you a hint based on people who actually deal with him eh?

This is not about Mick Hennessy in particular but it does apply, once a boxer is a 'name' they don't really need a promoter, just an event planner.
The real skill in promotion is creating that name to begin with.
When a boxer leaves a promoter because he has 'outgrown' them, or resents the money the promoter makes and wants some of that for themselves, well, surely that promoter has done a great job?
This wasn't the case with Froch and Hennessy to be fair.
Hearn largely had to build Froch's name as this all action hardman himself because despite Froch being in some proper thrillers nobody was watching them.

Unreal beef! Theses two really don't like each other! Fight! Fight! Fight!
I'm interested in the level of this guys knowledge. He keeps referring to pubs, hoping it's getting to me knowing my drink issues! That's how desperate he's getting. Fight? Highly unlikely, he's probably about 15.

Yes, everyone who saw him on BBC, ITV and Sky forgot all about him until Eddie cured their amnesia. Tens of millions of them.

I don't know what you're on about. How am I supposed to know you have a drink problem? Pub bore is a common term for someone who goes on about stuff they don't know about and I questioned if you were pissed the other day because you were drooling on like someone who was. It's nothing personal.

When was he on ITV? You're not on about the Sunday evening ITV4 delay are you?
Carl was on Friday nights on Sky and BBC very early. Ultimately he was developed to world title level but at that stage, (namely the point when Warren and Hearn took the likes of Hatton, Khan, Brook, Calzaghe, Joshua and more) into prime time level, Mick had Carl on some pathetic online stream.
It's just crap promotion. Not even sure there's a debate to be had.
No, Pascal FOTY, ITV1. World amatuer championships, Grandstand, BBC1, literally millions more viewers than have EVER watched him on a Matchroom promotion.

I was 100% sober the other day and I wasn't drooling.... I know an awful lot more about the game than you'll learn from IFLTV.
