Some good fighters there schwer would won I world belt today he's as good as crolla , Micheal Ayres was a tough fighter I met him a couple of times training when he had had about 5 fights top bloke and Wayne should of had a longer career really but what a puncher and he won the junior and senior ABAs so could box a bit as well.THEBUTCH wrote:I used to absolutely love watching : Wayne Alexander, David Walker and Richard Williams. Marvin Hagler, loved the menace that he brought to the ring. Tyson as well, when he was on his way up he brought some real excitement to the heavyweights.

Then got slaughtered in the rematch. Felt tight on him in the first chi fight cause he won it but judges gave it to chi then a re count had it a draw thats the WBC for you tho and that was about 12 years ago,WBC still dodgy as fck 12 years onNightmare Roy wrote:Britannian Stallion wrote:I used to love watching Michael Brodie fight.me too, quality fighter got jobbed for the WBC title.
Re: Boxer you miss the most?
Nigel Benn - he was in some exciting fights and it was the first boxing I watched as a kid.
Frank Bruno - I was never a massive fan but I got the impression that the whole country was behind him when he fought, it really felt like an event and probably won't get that ever again.
Choi Tsveenpurev - all action fighter, disappointed that he never got the opportunities that he should have.
Carl Thompson - never count out The Cat, superhuman recuperative powers.

Pacquiao broke my heart when he beat Barrera! I hated Pacquiao for a good few years after thatBoxerbeetle wrote:British - Calzaghe, Froch, Lewis, Naz.
International - Tyson, Morales, Barrera.
I’m sure lots will say Hatton, but I never really warmed to him in the same way that so many others did.
Re: Boxer you miss the most?
I loved Hatton but I thought his WBU reign went on too long. It was somewhat justified with him beating Tzsyu when he did but the WBU days seemed to go on forever!
Same with Shea Neary. Him v Hatton would've been good to see.

I got into him when I was a student in East London in the early 1990s & I watched a lot of his early fights live.
Although he was a nincompoop, he was great to watch & his power was something else.

I was a teenager during the golden era of Leonard, Hagler, Hearns, Duran and those were great days for boxing. Julian Jackson was another of my favourites, hardest puncher I ever saw. Domestically I loved Colin Jones, Lloyd Honeyghan and later on Nigel Benn, Lennox Lewis and Prince Naseem stood tall. I miss fighters like Azumah Nelson, he carried on way too long but a great fighter who was willing to fight anyone.
