Golovkin has never faced anyone with that kind of power and while he had poor foot movement he was a very technical puncher. He also hit harder than Hopkins at Middleweight. Ask Joppy.
Golovkin is really quite a strong favourite to beat Trinidad. It’s hard to say otherwise imo. Puncher be puncher always favours the guy who has a bit of something else other than the big shots, ie golovkin, jab, cutting off the ring.

I’m on board with you about Hopkins though. He’s favoured in this match up but it’s not foregone
Ggg isn't a better boxer than Trinidad by any significant margin. Tito wasn't some crude slugger.
I don’t disagree with that, I just think we can draw levels in what he was able to do

I'd consider Tito the more accomplished fighter.

Just off the names he has wins over you'd have to.

Pernell Whitaker, Fernando Vargas, De La Hoya (controversial though it was), Hector Camacho.

Even though Pea and Camacho weren't in their primes those are still bigger wins than most anything on GGG's record. GGG still has time to catch up possibly, but he'd need at least 2 or 3 marquee wins.

Somehow discussion of who would win in a ring switched to resume comparison ...

Because people had already answered the question of who wins the fight so the conversation moved forward. The poll is pretty damn decisive I'd say about who people think would win.
