Very ambitious match making from McGuigan, but to be fair, Taylor looks better than Frampton did at the same stage of their careers. He looked a million dollars against Ohara Davies who he absolutely destroyed.

Really looking forward to this fight, big gamble for Taylor but one he should win, Vazquez is an experienced tricky customer and has a habit of sucking the life out of a fight, ive not seen him fight in a while, maybe since he lost the title to Bey, I was surprised to see he lost to Mendez a couple of years ago so going on that logic I fancy Taylor to win this

Josh was excellent against Davies but this is a massive step up from Ohara, Vazquez never been stopped and has been in with the likes of Alvarez twice, Bradley, Bey, Mendez, Shafikov so if Taylor can get him out of there that really would be impressive

Can't wait til Saturday mate :TU: Buzzing for this already and it's only Monday morning! Interesting to see how Josh approaches this fight and how he deals with Vazquez awkward style.

I had Vazquez winning by a few rounds against Bey but like yourself I was surprised he lost to Mendez.

Very very clever match making Vasquez is not the same fighter he was when he was going to fight Ricky Burns. I think 4 or 5 years ago that would of been a competitive fight that Ricky would have won.. Josh will use his angles well and stop Vasquez in the middle rounds body punching is they key to this fight.. Looking forward to Josh stepping into the World Scene

I've just looked at the scoring when Vazquez lost his world title.

Adelaide Byrd gave it to Vazquez 7 rounds to 5. Julie Lederman gave it 7-5 Bey. Some guy Hoyle gave it 11-1 Bey !!!! I never saw the fight but it defies explanation how 3 people ( experts) at ringside in raised seats totally focussed on the action can see Bey winning 5 rounds, 7 rounds and 11 rounds.
I've never seen in a magazine a boxing journalist doing a study of a particular judges scoring throughout their career, although I do believe top promoters will have details.

Aye your right mate I cant wait either, I'll be watching this card live, like yourself I'm intrigued to see how Taylor chooses to approach this, I can see him going for skills on the day and try to simply outbox Vazquez for 12 rounds no frills just get the job done and stick to the gameplan, I remember Frampton saying a few years ago that he watched Taylor spar Mendez and it was the best spar he'd seen in his life so it suggests Josh was competitive with Argenis, not that it means much for this fight mind, looking forward to seeing Easton again as well

Buzzing mate. Weeks dragging coz I'm looking forward to Sat. Cinema with kids at 4 then straight home via the Indian for a takeaway :TU:

Yeah I really like Easton. His fight with Jamoye was a cracker man. Don't know much about his opponent though.

Vazquez wins. Taylor has been hugely over rated on the back of beating a defensively inept O'Hara.

Nah. Definitely Steve Davis, mate. :TU:
Six world titles and three masters?
As good as Taylor is, I doubt he could manage that.
Got to side with the Nugget - Davis was very dedicated professional back in the day, put 1000's of hours of practice in - I don't see how Josh can compete, Davis by wide decision on points

Real risky matchup here for Taylor. I'm picking Taylor to win a decision, but Vazquez is the kinda guy a lot of young fighters would avoid. High Risk/Low Reward kinda guy, but that would make this a particularly notable win for the young Taylor if he can get it.

Wouldn't shock me if Vazquez gives him all he can handle here. Should be a good learning fight for Taylor regardless of what happens since Vazquez isn't a big KO puncher, just a crafty veteran with lots of experience, but obviously he wants to come out with a win.

They both looked in top shape at the weigh in. I'm a little nervous for Josh. It is a big step up, but if he can pull it off its ---Showtime!

It's good matchmaking in the sense that Taylor is being exposed to different styles. Vasquez is a runner. He loses rounds because he annoys judges with his negative style and that should be the case here. This isn't O'Hara who came forward in straight lines all night. Vasquez is coming to do a 10k run.

He was rated before the Davies fight. He was a top amateur so there were big things expected of him. He hasn't put a foot wrong as a pro as of yet and isn't scared to take a risk. I fail to see how he is overrated? The Davies win was a good win and the way he got the victory was impressive. You are a hard man to please if you think Taylor is overrated.
