I thought golovkin was in real control from about 3 or 4 on. Golovkin isn’t particularly flash in his work, but he was clearly outboxing canelo during this periodjamamb wrote: ↑07 Nov 2017, 23:01 dont think he outboxed canelo at any stage. his success was in volume. canelo landed cleaner and with better accuracy thtoughout. but he didnt have the output to land enougj in enough rounds, so ggg by way of his greater output edged rounds with scrappy glancing stuff, mainly jabs. i think ggg did everything he can realistically do and he still only got a draw. his work is more cut out than canelos.ggg even older now too.

I too don’t understand why he needs so much time to decide if he wants itKiwiRider wrote: ↑08 Nov 2017, 01:41 What I wonder is why Canelo hasn't even made his mind up if he wants the rematch or not?
Surely if he actually wanted a clear win he would have said the next day or a week later "Lets do it!"
But to be this far on and he has not said either way makes me wonder how bad he actually wants it?
He has the rematch clause, GGG doesn't.
Re: Canelo Will Make Decision on Golovkin Rematch in a Few Weeks
ggg was mostly will and pressure. the vast majority of notable connects were from alvarez. ggg worked very hard and was constantly moving forward and punching yet really couldnt do much more than glancing stuff and jabs, while canelo hit him regularly with flush counters and landed the better when they actually exchanged. canelo showed faster hands, better accuracy, and better defense and counter punching. anyone who knows boxing could see he had better boxing skills, but he didnt quite work enough to make a win clear
ggg busted his ass in the fight and only got a draw. hell be older andcanelo knows he can take themonsters shots just fine. canelos going to win a rematch if it happens.

Jabbing and pressure is part of boxing though. In them middle rounds it weren’t exactly uneducated just barrelling in smothering pressure, it was decent pressure winning the rounds.jamamb wrote: ↑08 Nov 2017, 15:05 ggg was mostly will and pressure. the vast majority of notable connects were from alvarez. ggg worked very hard and was constantly moving forward and punching yet really couldnt do much more than glancing stuff and jabs, while canelo hit him regularly with flush counters and landed the better when they actually exchanged. canelo showed faster hands, better accuracy, and better defense and counter punching. anyone who knows boxing could see he had better boxing skills, but he didnt quite work enough to make a win clear

If you’re impressed by infrequent flashy punches then canelos the man, but for the majority of the fight golovkin was the guvnor that fight
Re: Canelo Will Make Decision on Golovkin Rematch in a Few Weeks
Sounds like Andre Ward... He said he was going to retire and then said he wouldn't make a decision for a long time... all the while training hard.
I predicted this... Canelo would rest for 3 weeks and than jump into training for the rematch claiming he's relaxing and deciding what to do.
A few weeks can mean months.

Re: Canelo Will Make Decision on Golovkin Rematch in a Few Weeks
Canelo fought the best fight he could. He still got beaten by GGG... No wonder he doesn't want the rematch.
I don't think he can chance the weight class either... So hes kind of stuck with GGG at the moment. Anything else will be seen as huge duck.
Bad spot for Canelo.

Canelo could fight Ramirez at a catch weight and get a SMW belt.

Re: Canelo Will Make Decision on Golovkin Rematch in a Few Weeks
What's all this garbage about Canelo avoiding a rematch? As if a boxing match is simply another schoolyard fight.
Wake up. This is professional boxing. Emphasis on professional.
Nobody, including Golovkin, is going to rush into a rematch until financial terms are clearly established.
Neither fights simply for the joy of it. Money comes first.
What the fans want is irrelevant. The business of boxing takes priority.
Why is that so difficult to understand?
Who gets what in a rematch, needs to be determined?
Does Golovkin earn more because he holds some belts? Or simply because he and his sycophants insist he won the first encounter, despite the official scorecards.
Or is Canelo always and forever the A side in this matchup and again deserves the lion's share of the purse?
Do they earn at least as much as the first fight?
Or were the PPV numbers so disappointing (has there been any update since that tepid 1.3 million buy figure was leaked---and denied by ODLH?) that both fighters will need to agree to a substantial pay cut?
Until accurate PPV numbers are tallied, there won't be a fight.
I'm certain that Golovkin is just as insistent as Canelo that his purse meets a certain criteria (i.e. mucho dinero) or else he'll prefer to pass on Bout #2.
Despite what many here fantasize, Canelo hardly seems intimidated by any Golovkin myth. The Mexican has been there, done that, and he pretty much debunked the hype on Sept. 16.
But whether the return match takes place on Cinco de Mayo weekend, or it's held over until El Grito, the fight will happen, I'm sure.
Canelo is young and will be around for quite a while.
Golovkin has fewer years left in the sport and will probably have to capitulate to Canelo's demands if he wants another mega-payday. Fighting Jacobs again, or taking on the talented by unknown Charlo will hardly line his pockets with big money.
Canelo, on the other hand, can earn millions against just about anyone.
I know it burns many of you, but he's still the face of boxing.

Re: Canelo Will Make Decision on Golovkin Rematch in a Few Weeks
Why did he and could he show those things? Because he was taking large portions of the round off, running and on the defence conserving energy. It’s easier to run then to throw punches. He made that decision and got outboxed and controlled for the majority of the rounds. If you think he just didn’t work hard enough you don’t know canelo and his stamina. If he tried to work harder by throwing more his energy would have depeleted further and he would be in all sorts of trouble. He did what he did to conserve and stay safe, stepping on the gear when he knew he had 3 to go. The last round you will see the sloppiest slappiest punches from canelo I have ever seen. Take note of his punches from our boxing number 1 popularity wise, he’s fighting on fumes. I fell you are underrating Golovkin skills, I mean what is your definition of outboxing? Controlling someone with a jab the marjority of the round or getting closed on and exploded for brief bursts in rounds?

Pipi, you didn't get the point. DLH and Canelo don't want TO START NEGOTIATIONS till next year.
Re: Canelo Will Make Decision on Golovkin Rematch in a Few Weeks
Yes pipi would have a point if they were actually in discussions. From what it sounds like canelo is just deciding if he want any part of it right nowboxing_rocks wrote: ↑08 Nov 2017, 17:09 Pipi, you didn't get the point. DLH and Canelo don't want TO START NEGOTIATIONS till next year.

From what I understand, there have been plenty discussions between GBP and Golovkin's camp.
But until concrete PPV numbers from bout #1 come in, the most important aspect in talks---MONEY---is being tabled.
Do you guys seriously believe that Canelo is shaking in his booties about a Golovkin rematch. I mean do you seriously believe that???
Fighters fight. That's what they do.
If a world class fighter actually trembles at the prospect of climbing into the ring with another, then it's time for him to sit ringside with the likes of Tessitore and Atlas and watch boxing. Not engage in it.

The concrete ppv numbers are in, people have already paid their bills. Just because they aren't released doesn't mean they don't have them. Canelo appears to be waiting to see saunders/lemieux.SenorPipino wrote: ↑12 Nov 2017, 18:21 From what I understand, there have been plenty discussions between GBP and Golovkin's camp.

I think the winner I Saunders/Lemieux is an easier fight than Charlo or Jacobs, so if he makes GGG wait he will do that. Maybe Canelo could take a stay-busy fight and fight the inactive Andrade for a tune up?

That is one of the few fights I could see Andrade taking.

Re: Canelo Will Make Decision on Golovkin Rematch in a Few Weeks
"Canelo vs Golovkin II: Alvarez's rematch with GGG may not be next, admits Oscar De La Hoya"
Oscar De La Hoya has hinted that Canelo Alvarez’s ordered rematch with Gennady Golovkin may not go ahead immediately, with the Mexican also considering other options.
Alvarez is booked in to fight on Cinco de Mayo in May and in September next year, with the 27-year-old stalling on the rematch with GGG after the controversial draw in September of this year.
Fans and pundits vehemently contested the decision made by the judges on that night at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, leading to the WBC ordering a rematch between the two fighters with Golovkin comfortably ahead most scorecards – except the ones that mattered.
Canelo stalled on the initial fight for two years which was proposed for the first time in 2015 and it is likely that he will do so again in the hope that the Kazakh loses more of his power as he ages given he will be 36 by next September.
“They’re ongoing,” said De La Hoya about the Canelo talking on Golovkin again. “They’re slow, nothing concrete. We haven’t discussed any details. The fight has to be made. Triple G wants it. Canelo wants it. Golden Boy [Promotions] wants it. After December, hopefully we’ll sit down and discuss when and where it’ll take place.”
However, while fans are clamouring for the rematch as soon as possible, De La Hoya has hinted they might be disappointed as he listed other possible opponents for the Cino de Mayo date, with Britain’s Billy Joe Saunders one of the names in the frame.
“There’s Danny Jacobs, and then you have Lemieux vs. Saunders, which is a very interesting fight,” he said when asked of other potential opponents. “So, you never know.
“Whatever the fans want is what we’ll try to make. I know as a promoter the fight has to be made.
“That’s the reason why we’ve already reserved Cinco de Mayo for Canelo, and we’ve reserved September for Canelo. Whatever Canelo wants. We’re going to sit down in the next couple of weeks and discuss future plans.”

Don't know why GGG didn't just take a fight in December.. He likes being active.. This is not a good thing for him. He could have matched 20 title defenses..

I think this is Loefler being unable to stand for his guy. Unless he was injured in the Jacobs fight, Golovkin should've fought Saunders in June. Situation repeated itself with the December opportunity.Ruthless-RKO wrote: ↑14 Nov 2017, 11:03 Don't know why GGG didn't just take a fight in December.. He likes being active.. If he doesn't fight Canelo next, GGG would HAVE to either unify against BJS/Lemieux winner or fight a mandatory (Derevo or Charlo). Jacobs wouldn't even be an option.

Yes, there's nothing too much easier for Canelo out there, and nothing anywhere near the money as against GGG.Kalan wrote: ↑08 Nov 2017, 15:27 Sounds like Andre Ward... He said he was going to retire and then said he wouldn't make a decision for a long time... all the while training hard.
