I suspect given the money they have and power they wield in the underworld that they must have corrupt police officers on the books. Regardless, it's a very silly situation McGregor has got himself into.mickey1975 wrote: ↑28 Nov 2017, 19:45The rumour is Kavanagh was done by The Kinihans.Coco wrote: ↑28 Nov 2017, 17:28 If they all plot up in LA they should be safe enough, but then how many pals would he leave behind?
Was Conor really out of order? Or is it like you can't touch any of these guys, even if they deserve it?
From a quick google I saw that Gerald Kavanagh, one of Kinahans enforcers, got ironed out and there doesn't seem to be a come back there?

All these gangsters are nothing but cowards, bullies and plastic hardmen.
Threatening to shoot Connor is proof of that. Surely if they were real men they'd settle it with their fists rather than hiding behind guns? Oh wait, they just tried that and Connor beat them to a pulp.
Which proves my point that they're cowards.
Anyone can be a big man with a gun. I'm a average guy who walks with a stick because of a leg injury. I'm not kicking anyone's arse. Give me a gun and even I can be Billy Big Bollocks.
I've zero respect for gangsters who cower behind weapons, bodyguards and get by on threatening people's families.
It's not big or brave. Connor McGregor kicked a couple of their arse, either accept the loss and move on or challenge him to a 1 on 1 fight.
That would be the brave, honourable and manly thing to do.
Re: Conor McGregor “Dublin Brawl”
Surely its ther own type that there killing though , not someone because of a bar room brawl , Don't know too much about them , but you would think the real powers in the mob / gang whatever you want to call them , would be smart enough to distance themselve from this sort of thing , even to the extent of being very unhappy with there member who brought on all the bad publicitymickey1975 wrote: ↑29 Nov 2017, 07:35The police have full time squads on them all over Europe anyway! Ooo, the Boxrec Badmans will be getting a semi over this thread!
As big and scary as these fellas undoubtedly are, lets think this through. If they can make a semi-open threat against a figure as public as McGregor, and carry it through with impunity, what does that say about the rule of law in Ireland? How does that make the government look in the eyes of the world or, more importantly, the eyes of companies like Google and Intel, who put billions in the exchequer? Shit like this doesn't fly in developed countries.
Doing gangster shit to other gangsters, or even ordinary people, is not really much of a concern to the powers that be, but I suspect that things could get a bit moody if it starts embarrassing the Irish government. It's one thing to put yourself outside the law, but quite another to put yourself above it. Only the establishment get to do that.
So yeah, my money is on nothing happening to McGregor.

Yeah.
Gangsters are all talk. They won't do anything to someone who will cause a shit storm.
Shoot Paddy the Greek and Sunglasses Ron, who cares? The law and general public won't give a shit because it's just a few low life's off the street.
They'll bluster loudly swinging their knobs around but at the end of the day they won't do nothing.
Re: Conor McGregor “Dublin Brawl”
They've shot people dead here in Ireland for just being a relative of someone they've fallen out with. The last two years have been madness in Dublin. Google the hutch kinahan fued.
Re: Conor McGregor “Dublin Brawl”
No, they are hardly going to attract unwanted attention to themselves by going directly to mcgregor.. mcgregors out of reach anyway.. but you are all missing the point
McGregor hit a 50yr old man, whelans father, and that side think it's a stinking liberty. There not going to be going off their heads wanting to murder McGregor
that would be stupid, getting lifed off over a few shots
No it's about money, they will be thinking cheek of McGregor to do that, that gives us free pass to demand a few quid off them now, because in their eyes they deserve compensation & because they can. If they didn't get no payment and were treated like they are non entities, then people who are connected to McGregor who are still local would be in danger
It's not about murdering mcgregor... it's about feeling insulted & jumping on another opportunity to make money , and if they are ignored then that's when there will be some problems , if all this is true

Re: Conor McGregor “Dublin Brawl”
But without wanting to speak ill of the dead, that's 'just' criminals shooting other criminals, or those unfortunate enough to be related to them. Even if they're ordinary citizens, they're ordinary citizens - you and I are pretty much unimportant to the media and government.
But if anything happened to a worldwide figure like Connor, we'd immediately be at 'something must be done about this' levels of moral outrage. At the very least, there would be police crawling over their activities worldwide, which makes it difficult to make money, which is ultimately the point of any criminal enterprise.
I've no doubt that they're scary so-and-sos, but I'm sure they're not stupid. They make money operating away from the spotlight. Like Oiky said, it's basically just a slightly less corrupt and seedy version of the Brexit negotiations!

Challenging a professional fighter to a fist fight is the honest thing to do? Are you an idiot? McGregor has trained in martial arts for about 20 years and is capable of killing a man with chokes and holds and you want some random Joe soap to come in and challenge him to a fist fight to sort a dispute out? Does this also extend to a young Tyson? A young George Foreman? You are suggesting that the average gangland thug should challenge them to a fight on the street to prove his manliness if they have a dispute?

When Gilligan hit Veronica Guerin you had an almighty storm with all organised crime being attacked...it is a major reason John wasn't popular upon his release (They tried to kill him). Far too high profile for the police to look away.
Connor will pay up and shut up because of that. But anyone who thinks 'The Wig' is some joke is mistaken. If they think he is, they should go and punch his dad and see what happens to them as they don't have Connor's profile.

The main reason these gangsters have so much power over the public in ireland is because gun laws are not as they are in the USA. The gangsters all have stockpiles of guns they can use. The average joe soap cant defend himself. Also drugs being illegal is what keeps the ganglands in business. If we legalize drugs, they are out of business overnight. Same thing about escorts being illegal. Why is it wrong for a woman to offer sex and a man to pay for the service if he wants it? And lets not act like we are all above this. Id say almost everyone on here has taken drugs of some kind and banged an escort at some point, or strongly considered it!!

Why would you ever associate with such people once you’ve made the dough he has?
The whole Irish ‘gangster’ scene seems a little tabloidesque. Cartels, mobs, mafias, constant reports on who’s doing what etc
Say one thing for the IRA, back in the day all these gangsters would have got their arses smacked and fvcked off back home, tail firmly between their legs.
McGregor is prick so not feeling too sorry for him, but with all that dough why is he drinking in some rathole surrounded by divs? Guess some people are what they are when everything is stripped away. He’s a car crash waiting to happen
