How does Rigondeaux beat Lomachenko?

Lomachenko has much more pressure on him to win impressively than Rigondeaux. He holds all the important advantages. Even if he struggles to win it will hurt his reputation. Some say the weight isn't an issue? If it wasn't important, the fight would have been at 126. Just because Loma says he is a 130lber now doesn't mean anything if he hasn't fought there. They still could have made this fight at 126, since his management says he can make it so easy.

Rigo on the other hand, will gain respect just by making it a competitive fight. It is a long shot, but I am hoping Rigo KO's Loma, and finally gets the respect he deserves.

Weight is always an issue but if any fight was going to points.. This one is all about slickness and speed. The name of the game tonight must be to stack up the points/rounds asap. Scoring needs to be first rate or the controversy will never end.

Weight is increasingly important when you have two sluggers facing off. Then you have a few tenths of a second more to make the extra poundage really tell. Weight can also help to absorb shots as Canelo and Jacobs counted on against GGG.

On balance Rigondeaux may even have greater single punch power, but a KO tonight is unlikely, it would take a perfect shot. These guys are both masters of distance and unlikely to risk opening themselves up by throwing wild shots.

So what are the factors that matter most?
Timing, handspeed, footwork, punch variety, defence etc. A fast pace would suit the younger man, but again I don't see it happening. Too much respect.

I'd be interested to see if GR can establish the jab. *if* Lomas footwork has been slightly flattered by facing mostly quite slow footed fighters, and GR's footwork can prevent him getting Angles and make it more a potshotting contest from the outside i certainly think he can at least win rounds. He could break Lomas rhythm with the jab and stop him throwing those flurries. Which have also IMO been more impressive since Loma has fought mostly slower guys, or the only quicker guy he faced Russell, can't really crack an egg, so he can scot round them at angles and pepper them. A quicker guy like GR who can also punch is a very different proposition to the guys Loma has looked a million dollars against.

Albeit it is easy to conceive of a basically one punch at a time guy like GR being out worked by Loma, which is why GR needs to try and mess Lomas rhythm up with feints, movement and jab.

Gary Russell can't punch??? ... He blew away Patrick Hyland in 2 rnds without even trying - and he'd never been knocked out before... He knocked out Oscar Escandon and that's the ONLY time he was ever knocked out... He easily stopped Jhonny Gonzalez who stopped undefeated Abner Mares... Russell is a very good puncher... but he's been kicked down stairs and he's getting 1 fight a year to protect the other top Featherweights... Anybody want to unify with Russell???

No excuses here, that was pure domination. Rigo put on maybe the worst performance I've seen in a ring yet. I doubt he ever recovers mentally from that.
