Round-by-Round: Billy Joe Saunders vs. David Lemieux - December 16, 2017
Re: Round-by-Round: Billy Joe Saunders vs. David Lemieux - December 16, 2017
120-108. But the judges will find 3 absurd rounds for DL.
Re: Round-by-Round: Billy Joe Saunders vs. David Lemieux - December 16, 2017
i think a guy of floyd's caliber would have ko'd lemieux...prime hopkins too...bjs not as elite as those guys, but he's still a brilliant fighter.BAD INTENTIONS wrote: ↑17 Dec 2017, 00:34 Shouldn’t every BJS fan be a Floyd fan?
If ur willing to watch this level of “boxing”,
then it makes no sense to call Floyd or Hopkins boring.
At least they landed punches of consequence.
BJS style is pure crap and further proof of your hypocritical assessments.

Schooled. Could have stopped him I thought with a little more activity/punchers. Dark horse of the division.

Great performance, but was to be expected from the UK fans who know how talented BJ really is when motivated.

Not that bad but very thorough beating.
Re: Round-by-Round: Billy Joe Saunders vs. David Lemieux - December 16, 2017
far more of an embarrassing outboxing than a beating

Thank goodness for the undercard.
Spike! What a great win that was.
And Seldin will have to get better matchmaking in the future, no way can he go up against a stick and mover.
Saunders put on a booxing boo fest. Why he chose to throw so few shots bewilders me, he could have won fans tonight, but instead alienated them.
Neither Canelo or GGG would want to fight him because it would stink the house out.

i was there.....gave two round to lemieux...1 by compassion...
was very funny when lemieux miss with a hook and saunders pretending to look at the hook ending up in the crowds(b-hop attidude right there)
my respect to saunders..make me look bad with my prediction..
would love to see him figt jacobs or ggg.
he would beat alvarez easily.

I think that's incredibly harsh on Saunders. He outboxed an albeit limited Lemieux away from home whilst easily outlanding him. Sure, he could have engaged more but overall I was impressed, as were HBO it seems.KiwiRider wrote: ↑17 Dec 2017, 02:17 Thank goodness for the undercard.

I think the GGG fight will be made for New York after Golovkin beats Canelo. Even if GGG loses he'll probably go for BJS as I think he'll see it as an easy way back to a title.
Re: Round-by-Round: Billy Joe Saunders vs. David Lemieux - December 16, 2017
It's not harsh. Saunders is a total stink-out merchant. His title fight vs Lee is by far the most boring world title fight I've ever seen below Cruiserweight. I appreciate he nullified a dangerous puncher last night but as a spectacle it bored me and the entire venue shitless. Why would an established draw like Canelo or GGG want to chase him round the ring when he brings no audience & revenue to the table? Only up & coming middles will want a crack at bjs for his belt. I doubt I'll watch him fight again.Shambles wrote: ↑17 Dec 2017, 12:14I think that's incredibly harsh on Saunders. He outboxed an albeit limited Lemieux away from home whilst easily outlanding him. Can’t stand him as person but BJS deserves respect for his mastery of the art of boxing. I will watch v any top MW, any he will have a chance v all of them.
Re: Round-by-Round: Billy Joe Saunders vs. David Lemieux - December 16, 2017
Maybe I was a little harsh. But just like Hughie Fury, they don't have to stink the house out. All it takes is 4-5 more shots per round to lift the stink. Boxing is about engaging.Ricky_ wrote: ↑17 Dec 2017, 12:32It's not harsh. Saunders is a total stink-out merchant. Not a biased fan like some people.
However, BJS won so he is entitled to top fight regardless of style.

This fight showed how limited Lemieux is as a boxer. Good job from Saunders by sticking to a game plan and boxing to victory.
I don't see Saunders winning against GGG or Canelo. I think even Jacobs would be too much for him.
Well maybe time will tell and we will know someday

I wasn't sure what to expect before the fight, but Saunders was brilliant to watch. The way he boxed and boxed, Lemieux completely negated and unable to do a single thing to stop the flow against him.
I tuned in not knowing who was going to be in charge and Saunders boxed so wisely and impressively throughout. Very impressive and enjoyable viewing.

Fair enough, though I don't think he was as negative as you make out as he clearly out boxed the home favourite - he could have thrown more in order to impress on his North American debut of course.Ricky_ wrote: ↑17 Dec 2017, 12:32It's not harsh. In terms of Canelo or GGG, surely they won't have to chase him round the ring. If they are top quality, and they are, they should be able to cut off the ring and get to him better than Lemieux was able to, so I don't think either of those fights would be boring.
Also, I don't think audience or ticket sales will mean much - if either fight takes place in the States then Canelo / GGG will sell the the tickets, BJS will just be the opposition.
