Hopefully Flanagan wins then takes on Josh Taylor in an all British scrap. I'd take Taylor to beat him just now :bag:

I reckon if Flanagan wins he faces Jack Catterall first. The Taylor fight would be a fun one though...

Yeah possibility. The Catterall fight could end up a good dust up actually. Easy to make as well as both guys are under Fwank.

Should be a comfortable win for Flanagan. Hooker is pretty poor.

Only watched Hooker once (vs Perez) and he was shite. Flanagan should win comfortably.

if this fight does come off in April at the M.E.N should have Jack Catterall on the card also against Jose Zepeda or Anthony Yigit for the right to face the winner.
With Tyson Fury and/or Amir Khans return attached aswell would be a big card for Manchester...

Another totally uninteresting Flanagan fight. To think we had talk of Garcia and Crolla for so long and now this is the reality.

Needs a co-headliner even if it's just Khan knocking over a nobody. Why the insistence of having Flanagan at the MEN I don't know.

We've been through this before, but there's nowhere else in Manchester or the surrounding areas, so it's there or fight away all the time.

Victoria Warehouse - Too small. About 1500 cap I'd estimate for Boxing. That would be a tight squeeze. Probs not even that.
Central (Formerly G-Mex) - No seats, not held boxing in around a decade.
Velodrome - Not held boxing since Flanagan-Zepeda when there was trouble.

Everywhere else unsuitable (Opera House? Apollo?) or capped at 1000 or less. Or go outdoors (Academy Stadium, Regional Athletics Arena), but those have similar cap to MEN taking into account floor seats.

Why does he have to fight in Manchester? Warren has just had Williams Smith in Newcastle.

I get the idea of building a regional fanbase but barely anyone seems to turn up to Flanagan fights leading to a pretty dismal atmosphere. Seems odd that a guy like him has to fight at an absolutely cavernous arena with no hope in hell of selling a quarter of it.

Depends where it could make money. Local fighters don't have to fight local. Khan (Bolton) sold out in Newcastle with an undercard topped by Mitchell (Dagenham), Bellew (Liverpool), DeGale (London) and Maccarinelli (Swansea). Groves v Eubank will feature two fighters from the South in Manchester next year for a fight which looks like doing cracking business.

There must be some method in the (seeming) madness but I can't understand repeatedly making fights in a venue that must cost considerable money to use when you're selling a few thousand tickets at best.

Manchester with the right card will do fine.

Flanagan vs. Hooker - WBO Super-LW Title
Fury/Khan vs. TBA
Catterall vs. Zepeda/Yigit - WBO Super-LW Title Eliminator
Nathan Gorman vs. Nick Webb - English HW Title
Zelfa Barrett on the undercard.

Can't see why it wouldn't do decent numbers...

Fury couldn't get close to selling out half the MEN against Klitschko, but admittedly the prices were pretty crazy. He's also still very big - April would be a push to get him fighting.

Khan can obviously do well at the MEN but surely it's a big ask to expect him to come back from fighting Canelo to appear on a Terry Flanagan undercard? All of Flanagan's MEN cards have been poor so whilst I accept Flanagan himself on a fully fit competitive Fury or Khan card looks perfectly reasonable there's still a lot of questions about either of them being involved. Which leaves the prospect of Flanagan yet again headlining an empty arena with chief support from Catterall. Surely that can't make business sense in a 20k venue?

I don't know, maybe they'll just open the lower half to keep costs down.
Regardless, I reckon it'll be happening in the M.E.N and I hope it goes well...

Surely he could fight in Manchester Central? Smaller location for him and still in manc?
