Have you been to many Khan fights, Dirk? There is no obviously about it when it comes to Khan and ticket sales.

You're right that Terry doesn't sell many tickets, but also consider all the bills you mention were a lot stronger headline fights than Flanagan v Hooker.

If he chose to fight away all the time he'd sell even less.

Yes, I've been to Khan fights in Newcastle and Manchester. Newcastle was full and Manchester (Barrera) seemed to have sold pretty well. An article from the time http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/others ... elnik.html suggests Khan did 10k at the MEN for Barerra which is comfortably beyond what the likes of Fury, Saunders and Flanagan have done for the same venue.

He's never going to be a big seller because he's a boring fighter and a boring bloke, so I'm not suggesting he has to get on the road. I just wonder what the financial impact is of routinely setting up fights in a massive venue which never gets anywhere near close to selling out for his fights. If Flanagan was a band repeatedly turning up at the MEN you'd think the promoters would suggest a smaller venue wouldn't you?

Barrera did a lot more than 10k. Khan-Kotelnik a lot less than 6. Khan-Diaz in Sheffield less than 4.

Apologies - I was at Barrera and said it seemed to have sold pretty well. The article links to Khan Kotelnik doing 10k, not Khan Barrera.

I don't know what your evidence is that the same fight did 'a lot less than 6.'

I was there, my friend boxed Gavin on the undercard. The top tier wasn't open and the lower tier was far from full. Just over half at best.

Threads gone off topic a bit here.....

Anyway as some know I've rated Flanagan on here highly for years but 2017 has been another wasted year with only one fight. Whilst Petrov was a solid win on paper it didn't really set the world alight.

Sure he will become a two weight world champion but who is Maurice Hooker. I've never seen him fight but all I hear is he got a lucky decision against Darleys Perez which isn't encouraging.

Then I see Jack Catterall high in the rankings at 140. I reckon by the time this fight takes place Jack will be in a mandatory position and will be Terrys next opponent. Catterrall is a good fighter but a fight between him and Terry doesn't excite me.

Going from the possibility of fighting Linares or Mikey Garcia to this is dissapointing.

That's my issue. He's not been a guy lost in the wilderness without a meaningful fight available. The Crolla fight would have been big, and Linares and Garcia really are quality names. It's like he's intentionally being kept under the radar.

I've gone on enough about the Crolla fight. It was never happening with Joe Gallagher training Crolla.

It should have happened but he didn't want it.

what a waste of time, the lad doesn't sell, stop flogging a dead horse, if I was Flanagan I would be getting my arse on the road for better money which if successful would get him a bit more recognition and maybe a better sell

Bolton Arena

Or Leeds or Sheffield or Liverpool arena's with local fighters on the card.. all 3 cities are only 1 hour away from Manchester max.

barf fight. hooker couldnt win 3 legit rounds out of 10 vs second tier lightweight perez.i had it 9-1 and was easily robbery of the year even just being a draw. hooker srsly looked lost and at many times like hed just started boxing.

this is boxing today though. flan wins, and hell be puffed up as a 2 weight champ even though in reality what he did was beat up some sh!t in the 140 pound toilet.

dont get me wrong, flans a solid fighter, but i find his career so boring.

I see Flanagan winning this wide on the cards.
Flanagan’s last fight had the strong Williams/Smith fight on the card and was nowhere close to selling out.

Seems to be a lot of trouble at Flanagan fights. High security costs could also put off smaller venues.
