Yup, the sucker punch was just simply bad! and then he kills Sam, I knew he killed him, but I didn't know there were staying together, nor that he killed him with a hammer.Shirow wrote: ↑27 Dec 2017, 10:58 James Butler deserves a mention. Butler was being helped out by Max Kellerman's brother Sam and staying in his apartment. Butler murdered him with a hammer then set the apartment on fire and stole Sam's car.

Ali's verbal insults against Frazier went pretty far from being just trash talk. Watch "Thrilla in Manila" documentary to know some facts before making conclusions.

Bernard Hopkins
At the age of 17, he was sentenced to 18 years in Graterford State Penitentiary for nine felonies including armed robbery. He was released after five years in 1988. The story of his final discharge has become legendary in boxing circles.
When the warden told Hopkins that he'd see him again, Hopkins replied, "I ain't ever coming back here."

Then list what Ali did that was so terrible. Go on....DrDuke wrote: ↑27 Dec 2017, 11:07Ali's verbal insults against Frazier went pretty far from being just trash talk. Watch "Thrilla in Manila" documentary to know some facts before making conclusions.
Re: Most "bad people" boxing has seen?
He had appealed to the public displaying Frazier as kinda traitor of his race, what had actually lead to public response. When Frazier's son was beaten up in school just for being his son or when there were threats to blow up Joe's house (the house even was protected by the police for some time), it's pretty stupid to justify Ali's words as just pre-fight hype.

Does anybody know what was other felonies of Hopkins? James Butler, damn i hope he is still in prisonRuthless-RKO wrote: ↑27 Dec 2017, 11:10 Bernard Hopkins

According to Wikipedia Butler term is until 2035. Hopefully he serves it in full.Cent0089 wrote: ↑27 Dec 2017, 11:47Does anybody know what was other felonies of Hopkins? James Butler, damn i hope he is still in prisonRuthless-RKO wrote: ↑27 Dec 2017, 11:10 Bernard Hopkins

Ali was obnoxious and said stupid things. But we are all sometimes obnoxious and say stupid things, but most of us don't commit incest, arson, or kill or rape people.DrDuke wrote: ↑27 Dec 2017, 11:42He had appealed to the public displaying Frazier as kinda traitor of his race, what had actually lead to public response. I think if you read every post in this thread you'll see comparing Ali's insults to Frazier, which granted were nasty, pale in comparison to these other individual's antics.

Yet I've never said, that Ali's actions were equal to kill or rape, or smth of that kind. I've just said, that they weren't good, they crossed the line of common verbal pre-fight battle in case of Frazier.Tony1244 wrote: ↑27 Dec 2017, 11:52Ali was obnoxious and said stupid things. Meaning I'd probably never get shot by my girlfriend in the first place, because she'd have no reason to shoot me. This was one of those "Just sayin'" type comments.Tony1244 wrote: ↑27 Dec 2017, 11:59In all fairness, I think Monzon was physically abusing the crap out of her.gilgamesh wrote: ↑27 Dec 2017, 11:56In all fairness there I'd kill somebody that shot me too. Re: Most "bad people" boxing has seen?
Ali can't be responsible for Frazier's kid being picked on in school. Kids are picked on in school for all or any reason. I think calling Frazier ugly or stupid was normal banter. Ali admitted to picking that stuff up from wrestling.DrDuke wrote: ↑27 Dec 2017, 12:00Yet I've never said, that Ali's actions were equal to kill or rape, or smth of that kind. But yes, I think Ali crossed the line with the race stuff. Ironically, Ali had lighter skin and loads of white friends, not to mention mostly white trainers.
So yes Ali was full of crap, but hardly a bad person.

..I agree that one should differentiate between being an ass*ole/clown/big-mouth, etc.. AND a convicted criminal..

Yeh, with this thread, I wasn't looking for pre-fight trash etc. Where there might be a valid claim he went too far in terms of trash talk.. it doesn't belong here.
Re: Most "bad people" boxing has seen?
That's an understatement
Re: Most "bad people" boxing has seen?
I think a poster here misconstrued "bad" for it's slang term.
