Because its a tv show, 4 or 6 parter its always going to be a safe import, the BBBoC would look very foolish if they allowed a seasoned novice to take on Rio. Are you 100% certain he has got a board licence ? Is it definitely happening on a matchroom show ?mimmy123 wrote: ↑06 Jan 2018, 12:10Because its a tv show, 4 or 6 parter its always going to be a safe import, the BBBoC would look very foolish if they allowed a seasoned novice to take on Rio. No im not 100% certain, but how did Freddie flintoff get licened by them? You cant licence one and not another, these guys are elite athletes in their field, not just 38 year old joe public that runs a door at the The Golden Lion.spudder56 wrote: ↑06 Jan 2018, 12:26Are you 100% certain he has got a board licence ? If he hadnt been licenced there would be no reality show and it would not be on sky tv.
Re: Rio Ferdinand pro debut
I suppose the board must be getting a back handler because why else would they embarrass themselves and the sport in this way.........again
I wish they had enough principles or deep enough pockets to take a step away from this and leave it in the hands of the Luxembourg commission.

Re: Rio Ferdinand pro debut
Maybe it’s on a Queensbury boxing league show or biba show or white collar and sky could just be running a documentary I just don’t know but I would have thought if it’s a matchroom show that Eddie would be giving interviews after interviewsmimmy123 wrote: ↑06 Jan 2018, 12:38No im not 100% certain, but how did Freddie flintoff get licened by them? If he's in decent shape, has good eyes and no brain damage, then he gets a licence.mimmy123 wrote: ↑06 Jan 2018, 12:38No im not 100% certain, but how did Freddie flintoff get licened by them? No Queensbury, no Biba
Why would Richie Woodhall be involved, come on we all know whos licening him. Sky would not invest in a docu without all this confirmed. There is absolutely no reason why Rio should not be licensed unless hes not medically fit, but if that was the case they wouldnt have informed the media that they were fighting in February.
This is a big event for tv, not a circus on a unlicensed boxing show. Rio will be fighting live on Sky or ppv in February.
Next year the rumour is Rylan Clark will be doing the same.
Re: Rio Ferdinand pro debut
The problem is that they are only embarrassing themselves to boxing fans who know the score - a relatively small number of people.
This show isn't aimed at them - it is aimed at Ferdinands millions of Twitter and Instagram followers (and the followers of his bird who was on TOWIE) and none of them either know or even give a fook either way.

That’s definitely true, Richie wouldn’t get involved with BIBA or any unlicensed organisationmimmy123 wrote: ↑06 Jan 2018, 13:44spudder56 wrote: ↑06 Jan 2018, 12:55Maybe it’s on a Queensbury boxing league show or biba show or white collar and sky could just be running a documentary I just don’t know but I would have thought if it’s a matchroom show that Eddie would be giving interviews after interviewsmimmy123 wrote: ↑06 Jan 2018, 12:38

Fucks sake Mimmy the wools over your eyes alreadymimmy123 wrote: ↑06 Jan 2018, 09:45 Ill have more respect for rio if he fights someone and gets beat rather than fighting a carefully selected opponent as with Flintoff and beats him over 4 rounds on points.
As this is only a one off fight they are going to match him with a selected boxer who has very limited talent, but imo thats just a school yard bully going to work on someone inferior.
Of course Rio wants to win his one off fight but I just hope he actually fights someone with a heartbeat and either beats him sportsmanly or gets beat himself in a decent scrap.
Re: Rio Ferdinand pro debut
If rio wants to have one fight he should have an AMA or white collar white a lot of ppl work half there life from being young kids to become a pro and still have to do a ring test
NO WAY should rio get a license cheapens the sport of professional boxing in my eyes - ppl will watch and think that is the standard set in this country! joke.

He hasnt been licenced yet So if there is a reality show its not based on the fact that hes already licencedmimmy123 wrote: ↑06 Jan 2018, 12:38No im not 100% certain, but how did Freddie flintoff get licened by them? Tom, regardless of the fight it takes guts to step into a ring and go toe to toe with another guy. Rio is not a boxer he played football for Leeds Utd, and degraded himself by going to Man utd.Tomasino wrote: ↑06 Jan 2018, 15:38Fucks sake Mimmy the wools over your eyes alreadymimmy123 wrote: ↑06 Jan 2018, 09:45 Ill have more respect for rio if he fights someone and gets beat rather than fighting a carefully selected opponent as with Flintoff and beats him over 4 rounds on points.

Regardless what the fight is, give the guy some credit mate.
Re: Rio Ferdinand pro debut
If he was licenced hed be on this.Hes not and I dont think heel be fighting in feb as the process for a new applicant takes longer than usual plus hes not even started proper sparring yet. I think that news article is jumping the gun tbh

I’m taking nothing away from him. You said he degraded himself. If you think this is an honest fight fair enough.

I never said it was a honest fight mate. I will wait and see what the fight is all about until I make a judgement on him. Of course its only one fight so we have a assume its going to be hand picked for tv, but lets wait and see then make our horrid judgmentsTomasino wrote: ↑06 Jan 2018, 16:34

If Rio fights some tomato can ill stand with you and insult the fact that it was a joke and should have not taken place. .I just want to see who and the outcome first.
Cant say fairer than than to be honest.

Re: Rio Ferdinand pro debut
A Rio win will set up a P4P catchweight superfight with Freddie Flintoff..... and I tell you what THAT is a pay per view fight everyone would buy
Re: Rio Ferdinand pro debut
Will not entertain this sh1t
Re: Rio Ferdinand pro debut
No license to box professionally, no evidence of sparring, no announced opponent, no promoter coming forward to back up his claims.
Why do I get the feeling this is all going to turn into some giant prank and on April fools day he just says "April fools, I was kidding all along!" Though that might just be wishful thinking that this farce is finally put to rest.

How do I find my old fights on video

I wouldn't pay, but I would be more inclined to watch that as it would be an honest fight as they have the same (lack of) experience and presumably they would both be trying to win - rather than employing a boxer with the objective of trying to not win.boxingknockout wrote: ↑07 Jan 2018, 17:19 A Rio win will set up a P4P catchweight superfight with Freddie Flintoff..... and I tell you what THAT is a pay per view fight everyone would buy![]()

Incidentially Talksport must have got the info from Ferdinand himself as he has told that well groomed Real Madrid footballer that he was fighting in February.
