Yeah, there was some shite going off and he died. Can't remember if he was caught up in an explosion or not though. I remember it being a bit dodgy.

Always enjoyed Jason Booth in and out of the ring. Again great story how he came back from his own fight with demons.

Every time I’ve seen William Warburton fight I’ve been impressed by his effort and skill. He’s more than a handful for any prospect. Great to watch compared to a lot of ‘journeymen’.

I enjoyed watching Carl Johannesson. You just never knew what would happen other than big shots landing for sure one way or another.

Warburton is a top level journeyman. Far better than his record suggests and has had a few raw deals as well. More than a few in fact. My mate fought him a few years back and won every round but had to work very hard to do so!

Then Terry Carruthers always makes me smile.

I tried to get a photo with him before his fight with Eubank Jnr in Bristol and he just growled at me....followed him ever since. Eubank jnr was equally grumpy that night I might add.

Loved his fight with eubank, I've never seen it on the tv but it was a brilliant fight to be at live and seemed all action. Just like his persona for some reason.

As a side note I saw Tyson fury that night as well though he is not a cult hero of mine haha

He was. I thought initially that he'd spank Kevin McIntyre but he was completely schooled twice! I even thought Anderson would win the rematch and the first was a one off but he was schooled again. McIntyre was a classy southpaw though and could cause problems for most domestically when he was on his game (Kell Brook aside lol)

I think Ando was fucked up after the wars. He just couldnt get past Kevs jab...I honestly thought MacIntyre would give Brook some bother!

He was very drained for the Muttley fight. Think that’s the one that sapped him tbh. Numbembe was another favourite.

Frank Maloney really showed his stripe when he said before a Numbembe fight “if he doesn’t win this one in good fashion I’m sending him back to Africa”. Little cûnt.

Danny Williams. Loved the fella. Your correct about his nerves. Threatened to pull out of numerous fights, on the day due to nerves. His team constantly having to talk him around.
His win over Tyson is my favourite EVER boxing moment.

Who's your favourite cult hero? I always had a soft spot for Danny Williams. Bit of an enigma but he could fight and was a likeable character.

I saw the thread "cult heroes" and thought, "I'll go on that and make the case for Danny Williams"
I just love the guy - won and lost small fortunes on his fights as you never knew which Danny was gonna show up.
My favourite fight was a £4.99 PPV on YouTube vs Airich - just one of the most thrilling fights in its own right, but with a monkey on Danny by KO it was like Alton Towers on speed.

With possibly the worst referee in boxing history and Airich’s manager ringing the bell halfway through a round!

Yes - that was the Ahmet Ohner one.
Short rounds when when Danny was on top, long ones when he was on the deck. Awesome drama.
