Josh Taylor vs. Humberto Soto - 3 March 2018
Re: Josh Taylor vs. Humberto Soto - 3 March 2018
They have actually been clever in the undercard fighters and stacking with locals who’ll sell well meaning the Hydro should get decent crowd.
Did wonder when I seen the Hydro and size for Taylor - but Ham/Flynn/Easton/Trotter should bring fair amount with them.

Part 1 of 2 | Josh Taylor respectful of Humberto Soto; Excited about going back to The Hydro
2017 was a big year for the Edinburgh boxer. Speaking to Ringnews24, he said:
“It just went from strength to strength, really. The start of the year I spent the full month in Las Vegas in the camp with Carl Frampton preparing for the second Santa Cruz fight.
http://www.ringnews24.com/2018/01/24/pa ... mjgIHzLe7Q
I bought tickets for the fight and I'm looking forward to hopefully a good nights boxing with my son who's 13 - his first boxing fight.
I did speak to Josh about fans thinking the fight was disappointing and he explained why the fight with Soto was made.

Think I'll head along to this myself as well mate. Hope your boy enjoys the experience. Should be a good atmosphere. My oldest two boys keep bugging me to take them to a fight but they're only 9 & 10 so it'll be a few years yet lol.Ringnews24 wrote: ↑24 Jan 2018, 15:44 Part 1 of 2 | Josh Taylor respectful of Humberto Soto; Excited about going back to The Hydro

Hey, great interview
Well worth a read.
Soto is a good fight for Josh.
As long as it goes at least 6 rounds, I think it's a good opportunity to learn.
If his matchups continue like this, he will be well prepared for a shot next year.
Some may think sooner, but just look at the top 6 guys ahead of him.
I'd like to see him in with Mimoune at the end of the year. Euro belt and 'super' pleather IBO belt
I think he can do what Eggy failed at.

It's expensive for a kid as the parent has to pay full price. £45.50 it cost for each ticket and the £5.50 is the booking fee.Stuarty30 wrote: ↑24 Jan 2018, 15:50Think I'll head along to this myself as well mate. Should only cost £40 if you get direct from a boxer.

Thanks mate. Part 2 should be up in a couple of days. Took a long time to transcribe and type up.
Part 2 is about Ricky Burns, Jack Catteral's British title, world title fights and we spoke about Easton vs Foot.
I think the Easton-Foot fight could be the best fight of the night.

Nice looking match, I've seen nowt of Foot though, but Easton doesn't tend to be in dull ones
Re: Josh Taylor vs. Humberto Soto - 3 March 2018
Saw him a few times mate. Won a few quid on him winning the prizefighter few years ago. Also saw him against Eggington and he put up a decent effort against Josh Leather at the end of last year. He's no mug but it's a winnable fight for Easton.Counter-puncher wrote: ↑24 Jan 2018, 17:01Nice looking match, I've seen nowt of Foot though, but Easton doesn't tend to be in dull ones

My British fight of the year involving Foot, thoroughly enjoyed it - Easton has his hands full.

I get sick of those news stories on boxing scene where the headline is practically the whole article. Lazy journalists padding out a paragraph of actual information to an article
Re: Josh Taylor vs. Humberto Soto - 3 March 2018
Anyone think it is possible for Josh to have a go at the Londsdale?
From the interview with RingNews, it seems he wants it, but from his career path thus far, he appears not to be moving in that direction.
Personally I would like him to have two quick fights in order to win and secure that belt.

After McGuigan losing Frampton, I think he'll want Taylor to get a world title soon as possible.KiwiRider wrote: ↑28 Jan 2018, 15:29 Anyone think it is possible for Josh to have a go at the Londsdale?

Don't see Taylor going after the British myself.

In terms of his development I'd like to see him at Euro level, myself.Ringnews24 wrote: ↑29 Jan 2018, 05:39After McGuigan losing Frampton, I think he'll want Taylor to get a world title soon as possible.KiwiRider wrote: ↑28 Jan 2018, 15:29 Anyone think it is possible for Josh to have a go at the Londsdale?

Re: Josh Taylor vs. Humberto Soto - 3 March 2018
Pretty difficult to match at Euro level. I think he absolutely destroys the champion Yigit.Counter-puncher wrote: ↑29 Jan 2018, 05:59In terms of his development I'd like to see him at Euro level, myself.Ringnews24 wrote: ↑29 Jan 2018, 05:39After McGuigan losing Frampton, I think he'll want Taylor to get a world title soon as possible.KiwiRider wrote: ↑28 Jan 2018, 15:29 Anyone think it is possible for Josh to have a go at the Londsdale?

Re: Josh Taylor vs. Humberto Soto - 3 March 2018
yigit would be the best 140 fighter hes beaten. davies was an overhyped prospect with hardly an amateur career and vasquez was a faded lightweight.
they had a super close 15-14 amateur fight (in the uk) and taylor has to be matched with somebody,

Re: Josh Taylor vs. Humberto Soto - 3 March 2018
Yigit is tailor made (pardon the pun) for Josh. I'd take Davies to beat Yigit also. Vasquez came with ambition and is an awkward guy to box. Wouldn't surprise me if he has a couple more decent wins left in him even if he is past his best.
Amateur fights mean very little. Stalker beat Taylor a few times in the ams. Josh would whip him silly if they fought as pros.
Re: Josh Taylor vs. Humberto Soto - 3 March 2018
davies has been totally overrated imo. very green guy who hardly had an amateur career.
yigits a decently skilled boxer, the unbeaten euro champ, and has a competetive amateur history with taylor. hed be a good opponent.
too much 'ya josh smashes everyone!' stuff going around like hes already way beyond fighting these guys.

Re: Josh Taylor vs. Humberto Soto - 3 March 2018
I don't think he smashes everything but I've been very impressed with him so far. You'd need to be pretty hard to please to criticise him too much. Yigit is decent but I think Taylor would make pretty easy work of him but that's just my opinion. It's tough matching Taylor at Euro level and Cyclone are obviously looking to fast track him. The division is wide open at world title level since TC moved up.jamamb wrote: ↑29 Jan 2018, 09:29 davies has been totally overrated imo. very green guy who hardly had an amateur career.

Davies is fundamentally flawed but I think he'll come again and I'd fancy him against Yigit.
Re: Josh Taylor vs. Humberto Soto - 3 March 2018
i think taylors been moved very well but i think some ppl are getting carried away too. a guy like yigit or catterall would be very sensible next after this. althougj cyclone seems to be going the intercontinental route
Re: Josh Taylor vs. Humberto Soto - 3 March 2018
If Flanagan beats Hooker you'll probably see him defending against Catterall in the summer at some point. I'm interested to see how Flanagan looks at 140. He was obviously struggling at lightweight. That could be a good match up later in the year for Taylor.
Re: Josh Taylor vs. Humberto Soto - 3 March 2018
In such a short pro career Taylor has moved at an impressive rate, so I've no problem with this bout. I wouldn't complain if he had 2 or 3 more like this to keep him active and that should also mean TV dates that everyone can tune into.
The plan seemed to be Yigit for the EBU title, but Anthony made his feeling clear after the fight that Taylor was not in his plans at the moment. That would have been an excellent match, but not Taylor's fault.

Yigit got a unbeaten European on the undercard of a big American show coming up.
Light-Welter wide open at world level.
