eubank is one of the most overrated fighter in years
i fell for it a bit too, but deffo not as bad as other did
hes a decently athletic, fit guy who can take a shot but has next to no skill, ring iq, and lacks serious pop at a high level
ive also seen ppl saying he had the 'it' factor of self belief, intangibles, etc, but funny that doesnt come out when he actually fights top opponents

Don't exaggerate, please ! CEJ got a terrible cut.
Re: eubank is the most overrated fighter in years
not exaggerating, he looked useless. hes lost both times he faced a world class opponent.
so much talk about all his great abilities and yet hes looked a novice for probably close to 20 of the rounds he fought vs good opponents. all this great supposed self belief was nowhere to be seen either.

I agree. Honestly I thought he was gonna be better today. I knew he would be aggressive, but I didn't expect such unintelligent aggression. He got desperate and was getting outboxed and embarassed out there.
Re: eubank is the most overrated fighter in years
Forget the cut, he’s not a good boxer. I feel about as phoney as he SHOULD favouring him.

Re: eubank is the most overrated fighter in years
The interesting question to me is - why was he overrated in the first place? Because he doesn’t have a single win at world level, he ducked a fight with GGG, and he’d already stepped up once at a lower weight and had his head boxed off by Saunders. Yet people were claiming he had all these talents and abilities that clearly he doesn’t have.
I’m not sure whether people just believed the hype he was spouting, or whether they genuinely thought they saw something in him which just isn’t there?

Re: eubank is the most overrated fighter in years
i wonder if part of it was thinking hed be as good as his dad, and also being convinced by all the flash and supposed 'self belief' he showed at lower levels. hes the type who can look really eye catching when he does win, but then now we see clueless at the high levels

He's awful. Footwork, awful. No jab. Average power. Average speed. No boxing skill. Just good stamina & tough.

His best opponent was an unfit/un-bothered Saunders ages ago and he still lostTaansend wrote: ↑13 Feb 2018, 11:18 I still have no idea as to the outcome of this fight.
If Jnr overwhelmed Groves early or put on a boxing clinic I wouldn't be surprised.
If Groves starched Jnr with one punch or put on a beatdown I wouldn't be surprised.
And I wouldn't be surprised if we can't separate them after 12 rounds.
It's tough (for me) because Eubank is still an unknown quantity at this level while Groves can be fragile or tough depending on any given night.
His not even that skilled. He throws wide shots, his footwork and positioning is amatuer and his head movement is hardly Mayweather
Couple that with being small as fvck for a super middle
Where on earth are people getting this 'he'll blow Groves away' crap from?
How is he even favourite?
he's talented and defo top 15 in the world but this over egging is ridiculous. Groves beat better opponents in his first 15 fights than Eubank has now, maybe excluding Abraham, who is old as sh1t![]()

That fight with Saunders was very close. Some aspects of Eubanks boxing skills are limited but dont get fooled, he is a beast. Best victory in Groves career to this date.Boxerbeetle wrote: ↑17 Feb 2018, 19:28 The interesting question to me is - why was he overrated in the first place? Practically? No he hasn’t? He was cut it wasn’t swelling. Have you ever boxed?

the kid was clueless. just plodding and wild inaccurate swings.

Admittedly the scores were close due to Saunders’ terrible conditioning, but the difference in levels was abundantly clear.Cent0089 wrote: ↑17 Feb 2018, 19:32That fight with Saunders was very close. I will not take part on this topic more. It is not fair, Eubank could not see.

Re: eubank is the most overrated fighter in years
Eubank Jr. was overrated, for sure, but let's acknowledge the fact that the bad cut Chris suffered during the early stages of the third round effectively scuppered his ability to implement his preferred game plan.
There's a chance that Eubank Jr. can rebuild his career and potentially snatch one of the alphabet world titles at some point within the next couple of years, but he clearly hasn't got the ability to become the top dog at either 160lbs or 168lbs.
Just because Eubank Jr. tasted defeat tonight, that doesn't mean he's suddenly become the world's worst fighter, because he isn't. So let's not criticise him too harshly.

I thought Groves would win, but I was legit scared he wouldn't. It's hard not to think the hype might be right
He was actually awfull. Hasn't improved at all since Saunders.

oh for sure hes not bad, but it just seems there was such a massive gap btwn how he was talked up and what he delivered. it really was just a standard win for groves. jr is athletic but looked geniunely clueless boxing wise. and the much talked about self belief wasnt apparent eitherEnlightened-One wrote: ↑17 Feb 2018, 19:46 Eubank Jr. was overrated, for sure, but let's acknowledge the fact that the bad cut Chris suffered during the early stages of the third round effectively scuppered his ability to implement his preferred game plan.

Re: eubank is the most overrated fighter in years
Eubank Snr had a great career as a counter puncher, hardly ever venturing forwards with intent. Time and time again opponents would come to him. Nigel Benn, who hardly knew any other way, especially.
After the cut Jr felt he had to go on the offensive. As he found out against Saunders, chasing fighters is a different game to fighters chasing you. Groves fought clever tonight but there were signs that a faster pace could have dismantled him sooner.
If the cut had happened to Groves, Eubank Jr would have got everything he wanted. Not an easy fight to predict. Pity I had to listen to Richie Woodhall's mononous carping all fight.

I really don’t ever want to see this wild swinging, holding, Andre Ward ducking below the waist, then stationary non offensive fighter again. He conned me with his speech and his weird left eye that is semi closed. That eye hypnotised a lot of people.
