Who would win Chris Eubank Jr Vs. Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. ?
Who would win Chris Eubank Jr Vs. Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. ?
I think this'd be an interesting match up on more than one level.

What weight is JCC Jr fighting at now?

Interesting fight I think the Chavez of 3 years ago would have a decent chance but on the performance Vs canelo I'd pick eubank jr who is still a good fighter against slow come forward fighters

I personally don't see how this would be a good fight.
Would have Junior winning this.

Re: Who would win Chris Eubank Jr Vs. Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. ?
Chavez Jr. isn't a highly-skilled fighter, but he would hold a significant size advantage over his opponent in this mythical match-up.
Eubank Jr. would probably win this on pure work-rate alone, since the durable Brit won't be troubled by the Mexican's power. This would be a classic action-packed bout between two sluggers.
This would actually be a very sensible and highly-lucrative fight to make, since both fighters need to re-establish themselves on the world scene by gaining a victory over a fellow big name opponent.

I dunno. Is Chavez even fighting?
He's been announcing a comeback for the last 6 months. But then nothing happens, except for more talk.
They say you're only as good as your last fight. If true, then Junior vs Junior ends in a draw.
Re: Who would win Chris Eubank Jr Vs. Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. ?
I'd definitely favor Eubank Jr. He might not be the fighter I thought he was a few days ago, but at least he always shows up in shape, and gives his best effort. Can't say the same for JCC Jr.

JCC Jr's natural weight division is CW. CEJ is a small SMW. There is a big difference in the weight/size.

Re: Who would win Chris Eubank Jr Vs. Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. ?
Chavez is just a big super middleweight.
He's no cruiser. He's not even a light heavy. He was eaten up at 175 by Fonfara.
If he comes in at those high weights it's simply because he's too lazy and unprofessional to train.
Chavez is not big on dedication.

He was big SMW five years ago, killing himself to make weight for MW. He is 32, I think, and right now his optimal weight is over 190..............SenorPipino wrote: ↑20 Feb 2018, 13:12 Chavez is just a big super middleweight.

Which would mean he's completely finished as a meaningful fighter because at 175 he had nothing to keep Fonfara from running through him so there damn sure wouldn't be nothing he could do to stop the best Cruiserweights from kicking his ass.ValMar wrote: ↑20 Feb 2018, 13:24He was big SMW five years ago, killing himself to make weight for MW. I imagine if we ever see Chavez in a Boxing ring again it'd be as a Light Heavyweight.
Re: Who would win Chris Eubank Jr Vs. Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. ?
I find it hard to view this objectively as I feel much the same way about Chavez Jr as Barry Jones does about Broner, but from what I remember of JCCJ's 'A' game (and it has been a helluva long time since he brought it to the ring) he is capable of giving Eubank a hard night's work. Certainly the Chavez Jr of the last third of the fight against Sergio Martinez easily beats the Eubank we saw this past Saturday.
Re: Who would win Chris Eubank Jr Vs. Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. ?
Other than his win over Andy Lee I've never seen much to indicate that Chavez Jr. was ever on a higher level than Eubank Jr. I think they're about even at their respective bests.East End wrote: ↑20 Feb 2018, 13:42 I find it hard to view this objectively as I feel much the same way about Chavez Jr as Barry Jones does about Broner, but from what I remember of JCCJ's 'A' game (and it has been a helluva long time since he brought it to the ring) he is capable of giving Eubank a hard night's work. Last third of the fight?
Maybe the 12th and final round but JC did nothing before that. Roach admitted that he was seriously considering stopping the bout after the 9th.
I'll never believe that Junior has grown into a cruiser. He's 32 now. His growing days are over. Unless it's fat.
He's supposedly bulked up...almost Joshua-like. But it's just window dressing.
He shouldn't be above 170. Some months back he was interested in fighting Martin Murray at super middle. Chavez knew that even light heavy was too much weight.
And the latest I heard was that he was going to fight Angulo in January. The fight was going to be at super middle but Junior predictably begged off.
Junior is no light heavy. And cruiser is absurd. Even he knows it.

Re: Who would win Chris Eubank Jr Vs. Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. ?
Whatever size Chavez Jr might be after a munchie fuelled burger binge, if he could be arsed to train properly he still makes 168 fairly easily.
He's a fair size super middle, but Ramirez, Callum Smith and Jesse Hart dwarf him - he's only on a par with Andre Dirrell, DeGale, Benavidez etc. Any weight problems he's had are from poor training/discipline/motivation etc, nothing to do at all with belonging anywhere higher.
You've got a fairly big super middleweight vs a small super middleweight/good sized middleweight.
Neither are massively skilled or powerful, but one is at least motivated and keeps in shape.
Easy win for Eubank, although JCC's chin and Eubank's lack of power means we wouldn't see a stoppage if they fought all week.

Re: Who would win Chris Eubank Jr Vs. Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. ?
The decisive factor in JCC Jr' s debacle is his boxing style. So, as a youngster he has been capable to cut his weight, and fight lesser opponents. After that he could not adapt to bigger opponents - and this is the key.
Against Canelo, he could not walk properly, he has been absolutely drained.
Yes, he had got a great potential, the best proof is the 12th round against Martinez.
I can not imagine him as a top 10 fighter in any weight division. Never more..........

Comments directly from the mouth of Chavez Jr. immediately after he weighed in at 164 just nine months ago for the Canelo fight:
"I feel like 168 is too heavy for me. I love the way I feel. I'm light, I'm faster and I actually feel more powerful....it's my job to make weight . Canelo is fast and strong too. And I had to make sure that I was at top shape to win."
Of course after the fight, Junior changed his tune and lamented that he was weight drained and simply had no strength or energy.
But we all know that there's no excuse for not having an excuse in boxing.
Beristain didn't think weight played any role in Chavez' no-show performance. He instead preferred to blame it on a massage that Chavez had shortly before the bout began. It supposedly took away his leg strength.
Weight? Massages? Or maybe Canelo was just a hellava better fighter than Junior.

Massages ? Nobody knows.
Canelo ? Yes, Canelo is/was much better one.
