Really strange rant from Booth. Always came across a bit of a crank in his interviews I thought. Don't really know what to make of it.

watching those ifl interviews I think the best way to describe him is to say that he is the paul smith of sheffield.

Alex Higgins the snooker player of many years ago was forever saying stuff to the media and was always getting fined for bringing the game into disrepute. He would say he wanted Dennis Taylor dead and was banned and fined for saying such to reporters.

So this kid saying stuff on Twitter is the same sort of thing and should be banned or fined for bringing his sport into disrepute.

In my opinion he should be fined by his organisation, not sure what the fine should be, but if you are a member of an organisation you should respect their rules and regulations and should conduct yourself appropriately.

If I started slagging my hospital off and saying managers were wankers etc etc I would be brought in and disciplined and possibly given a written warning or possibly suspended and fired. I couldnt say it was freedom of speech and get away with it.

Met him years ago in Belfast. Apparently he'd sit in the boozer and charge folk for pictures and autographs There's a cracking big mural of him where he sat in the pub and one outside as well.

I have a mate who was going to write his autobiog. He invited Higgins over to stay in his holiday cottage in Whitby, on the North East coast. He was ran out of town for swindling pool players! he would play a crap game for a fiver and let someone beat him. Then some bloke would bet him £20 and higgins would clear all the balls. He wrecked my mates cottage. The biog didnt get written!

I have a picture of myself next to that mural, nobody had a good word to say about him, even cab drivers took money off him upfront as he had a reputation for doing runners or just saying he didn't have any money.

Exactly. On this issue itself, it takes real mental gymnastics to NOT see how this is bringing the sport into disrepute. If you do that in any sport, you get banned. It is so obvious, and I do worry that those saying it are more those into WWE pantomime.

Higgins book did get written by another writer. My friend started to do research, interviewing his sister and other people. Higgins wanted the book to be written in a different way, thus it wouldnt have been a biography, he hated almost everyone in snooker. If you are going to write a biog it has to be truthful and give a correct account of what really happened, not what you think happened. Some writers would go along with that to make the money, but my friend didnt.

When he spent time at my friends cottage I dont think he was going through the cancer, not sure. But he was a well known figure around the town apparently.
