You can't score a round 9-8, unless there is a points deduction for any reason.

It's called the "10 point must" scoring system, because the winner of the round must be awarded 10 points.

If a fighter gets knocked down, but clearly bosses the rest of the round, the correct way to score is 10-9, not 9-8.

If Wilder had scored the knockdown, then been deducted a point for rabbit punches, that's where you'd score 9-8 (or 9-9 if you felt Ortiz dominated the rest of the round).
This is all correct.

People on this forum, I tell you. One reason I seldom post on here anymore. I normally just give my 2 cents and leave it at that anymore. Got sickk of debating with elementary children.
I don't think anyone's debating the outcome of the fight. It's more to do with the general state of judging in boxing.

When fights do go the distance, it's fairly common to see at least one terrible card. That naturally opens up judges performances to public scrutiny - and that includes fights where the cards aren't needed.

It's another argument in favour of judges performances not being good enough. That's something that rightly annoys fans of the sport, and puts off newcomers. If it's not right, it should be discussed.

Wilder won (rightly) by TKO. That's not the issue we're discussing though.

nate, honestly you seem a bit of a whiny bitch who for some reason is highly prone to hating on and only hates euro/former ussr/(white?)boxers. its really not outragous at that ppl are discussing the scoring, even if the bronze bomber won by another awesome ko in the end.

totally overblown, sissy boy level sensitivity from you

just go permanently and get your account deleted if you dislike it that much you little man temper tantrum cry baby

From where I'm sitting you seem to be the whiny bitch😂.

One of the more colorful attempts at insulting me over the internet I've seen for quite awhile. LMAO

Didn't score it while I was watching it, but felt Ortiz was winning the fight by a couple of rounds, but if it did go to points, I don't think I would feel comfortable picking a winner. I felt it was closer than the majority were saying.
