Wilder Ortiz. What Changed?

just reading a bunch of predictions and stuff now, and its crazy indeed how far things have changed

reading about the fight most ppl make it sound like a poor mismatch that will be cakewalk for wilder and that ortiz is trash. funny how after ppl saying wilder would never fight ortiz and that ortiz would win if they fought, now ortiz is garbage apparently. ha

personally i havent thought either guy seems much different from a few years ago. wilder was always going to win. i actually dont think hes shown much improvement since winning the wbc, or stepped up his comp till now, but he always beat ortiz for me

TBH I still think Ortiz is better, despite he's much older and seems to downgrade fast. I do think Wilder is getting better, I know that Stiverne got much worse, but Wilder also improved over time.
Actually, I think the whole competition improved since AJ showed up, there's more money in the game again, when I looked at the youtube vid about Wilder 3 years ago, I could basically watch every vid out there of him, he was lucky to get 5 reactions on a vid, nowadays that's mission impossible. The top 15 WBC back then was a joke, now only Stiverne and Charles Martin are jokes, all the others are competative up to some point.

Ortiz's weight is low, I smell an upset.

Ortiz threw some wild pinches himself against Allen but about 1/10th of the speed of wilders. He's a good fighter but I don't think he's as technically brilliant as people imply

True but boxing is big in the UK while very much a fringe sport in America.

isnt that about the same that his stiverne fight did. hopefully the audiences keep up. i think it shows the numbers go along with the quality of opponent. stiverne was a big step up and did well on showtime. then ortiz was his next step and it did well. but the fights in between on showtime didnt do nearly as well.

Two years ago Ortiz was the top fighter in the division in the eyes of many (on here & elsewhere).

Meanwhile Wilder was considered a joke (ditto), or at least a caveman with great power (by me).

Had they met in the summer of 2016 I know who most would be picking

But, without losing, Ortiz is now a considerable underdog this weekend.

What changed your opinion?

Ortiz's flat performances under the Matchroom banner?

His drug issues?

Wilders much improved performance against Stiverne?

Or is your opinion the same now as it was then
