Wtf? No of course they’re not.wesshaw1985 wrote: ↑27 Mar 2018, 13:14wouldn't you say BT are light years ahead of Sky in terms of money for sport?
If BT want this fight they have the ability to pay for the fight, should they wish to do so...

Premier League and Champions League both taken from Skys control because BT wanted them.
I reckon if they were to bid against Sky for the Joshua vs. Fury fight as a one off event they would outbid Sky...
Re: Tyson Fury vs. TBA - April 2018
BT could definitely be competitive bid wise with Sky if they want to. No question.wesshaw1985 wrote: ↑27 Mar 2018, 13:40Really?dirk2686 wrote: ↑27 Mar 2018, 13:34No.wesshaw1985 wrote: ↑27 Mar 2018, 13:14

Re: Tyson Fury vs. TBA - April 2018
Sky are miles ahead in terms of sheer financial clout though. They have loads more Premier League football for example.wesshaw1985 wrote: ↑27 Mar 2018, 13:40Really?dirk2686 wrote: ↑27 Mar 2018, 13:34No.wesshaw1985 wrote: ↑27 Mar 2018, 13:14

You're talking shite anyway. The thought of it on BT.
Re: Tyson Fury vs. TBA - April 2018
Sky are very reliant on English premier league football. Their business model collapses without that. BT have multiple revenue streams and are far less reliant on sports subscribers. Also BT revenue is roughly double that of Sky.
I wouldn't rule BT out. The sky ball is burst long term in my opinion.

Re: Tyson Fury vs. TBA - April 2018
Good job Premier League football is the most popular sport in the country by a million miles.
Anyway, I don't really care either way. But, the idea of Joshua Fury not being on Sky, when every massive fight featuring a U.K. fighter for a decade has been on Sky, seems an outsider.

because he's still not licensed? that's the problem

Dirk refuses to acknowledge BT won CL rights, which is far more important than any boxing match and simply refuses to believe they have a much bigger budget!
Re: Tyson Fury vs. TBA - April 2018
Anyone really arsed what channel it would be on if it ever happens?
Re: Tyson Fury vs. TBA - April 2018
No, but it'll be on Sky Box Office when it happens. Even Fury's biggest fight was on that channel. What was the last megafight featuring a U.K. boxer that wasn't on it? You probably have to go back ten years.

So, last month is basically your answer.
Re: Tyson Fury vs. TBA - April 2018
Groves v eubank jnr was a very big fight. Sold out in seven minutes
Re: Tyson Fury vs. TBA - April 2018
Huge? It was a big event in the sport but it wasn't huge, Groves was in a couple of bigger fight 3 and 4 years ago.mickey1975 wrote: ↑27 Mar 2018, 16:28London 2012 was all on BBC and did millions. Haye-Chisora was front page news. Groves-Eubank Jr. was huge...

As far as fights go, it was big. Massive media coverage. Yes, Groves was in one four years ago too.

Re: Tyson Fury vs. TBA - April 2018
Canelo v Beefy, huge global audience, stadium fight, p4p top 5 fighter....
Re: Tyson Fury vs. TBA - April 2018
You've missed the point. If sky were to lose premier league football they would probably go bust due to subscribers leaving en masse. All their money is tied up in bidding over the odds for English football meaning they hardly have any budget for anything else, including boxing. BT could outbid them without blinking.dirk2686 wrote: ↑27 Mar 2018, 15:09Good job Premier League football is the most popular sport in the country by a million miles.

Either way it doesn't really matter. It would be on tv on ppv somewhere.

Yeah mate - the casuals can't get enough of Beefy.mickey1975 wrote: ↑27 Mar 2018, 16:38 Canelo v Beefy, huge global audience, stadium fight, p4p top 5 fighter....

If they have no budget for anything else why do they pretty much get everything else? Next Ashes series? Next cricket World Cup? Super League? Golf majors? PDC darts? Formula 1?ewenhay wrote: ↑27 Mar 2018, 16:38You've missed the point. If sky were to lose premier league football they would probably go bust due to subscribers leaving en masse. I'll give you formula one that's not cheap . Sky's financial model is well documented though , you can look it up if you like. Most subscribers do so for the premier league football, without it they would mostly leave.dirk2686 wrote: ↑27 Mar 2018, 16:48If they have no budget for anything else why do they pretty much get everything else? If BT had that much money to spend on sport, you’d think they’d have got more Premier League games in that case...ewenhay wrote: ↑27 Mar 2018, 16:52I'll give you formula one that's not cheap . Re: Tyson Fury vs. TBA - April 2018
BT/allegedly was meant to be 20 shows a year - we’ve had 1 so far this year in UK.
Re: Tyson Fury vs. TBA - April 2018
I thought they might have put smaller show on with Yarde/Davies/Dubois but they are all Jun 23rd now - 2nd fight of year for 2 young fighters isn’t much use and 1st for Davies.
