Agreed.
W@rren should have at least been putting on small hall shows with his London prospects.
He needs to step his game up...
Agreed.
So a Canelo fight involving a Brit wasn't a big fight?dirk2686 wrote: ↑27 Mar 2018, 16:42Yeah mate - the casuals can't get enough of Beefy.mickey1975 wrote: ↑27 Mar 2018, 16:38 Canelo v Beefy, huge global audience, stadium fight, p4p top 5 fighter....![]()

I'm surprised they weren't too busy talking about huge SKY BLOCKBUSTERS like Crolla-Burns.dirk2686 wrote: ↑28 Mar 2018, 02:04Massive mate - all the lads in the office who casually follow it were saying how much like Mayweather McGregor it was.![]()
I'm not sure what the bigger blocker would be, both fighters being with Matchroom, or one with Matchroom and the other BN.wesshaw1985 wrote: ↑27 Mar 2018, 11:34Maybe he wants hearn to sign fury so he can avoid him, similar to what hearn did with Ortiz![]()
I think the likelihood is that it would be on Sky. Sky have a recognised PPV model and generate more through PPV on average.wesshaw1985 wrote: ↑27 Mar 2018, 13:14wouldn't you say BT are light years ahead of Sky in terms of money for sport?

Not saying BT couldn't put their hand in their pocket, because they definitely could, but I would be surprised if they did.
BT would have to put forward millions to get the fight on BT Sports, which I don't believe they will see as business sense.

What were the viewing figures for both fights? Less than 100k each time?
Thought this was about UK tv?mickey1975 wrote: ↑28 Mar 2018, 09:53Surely Canelo does more than that in Mexico alone. Khan in Pakistan? Millions, I'd guess.
It is, bearing in mind it's about Sky and BT.

Mick is the sort of bloke who'd say something like 'Eddie Chambers is a guy who can sell out massive stadiums' and then defend himself by saying he did so against Klitschko.
I’m going off on a tangent, but for what it’s worth I was at that fight and i’m far from convinced Canelo is the draw he’s portrayed to be. Took place in Vegas on Cinco de Mayo yet was far from a sell-out and plenty of tickets going cheap in the days before the fight.
It wasn’t a big fight in the UK. It did less than 70,000 views and that’s not on a PPV platform.mickey1975 wrote: ↑28 Mar 2018, 01:23So a Canelo fight involving a Brit wasn't a big fight?dirk2686 wrote: ↑27 Mar 2018, 16:42Yeah mate - the casuals can't get enough of Beefy.mickey1975 wrote: ↑27 Mar 2018, 16:38 Canelo v Beefy, huge global audience, stadium fight, p4p top 5 fighter....![]()
Fury's only big fight was on Sky? You forgetting something here Mick?mickey1975 wrote: ↑28 Mar 2018, 12:03And you're the sort of guy so OBSESSED
with Fury you've forgotten a load of huge fights, one last month, simply because they weren't on Sky! I'd imagine you're not a boxing fan, just an AJ casual, hence the desperation for Tyson to be banned.
Canelo v GGG was PPV.maverick23 wrote: ↑28 Mar 2018, 12:15It wasn’t a big fight in the UK. It did less than 70,000 views and that’s not on a PPV platform.
I would say the only huge fight for the UK that’s not been on Sky is Eubank v Groves and ITV made a complete mess of it.
Unfortunately no-one, other than Sky, has shown the ability to properly promote and service a big UK PPV fight.
BT may have the champions league rights but they’ve yet to do anything on PPV and it would be a huge gamble for fighters like AJ and Fury to trust that they’d deliver it as well as Sky could and currently do.
I didn’t say it wasn’t PPV but it had far less than 100,000 buys. Brook v Golovkin did substantially more on Sky.mickey1975 wrote: ↑28 Mar 2018, 12:51Canelo v GGG was PPV.maverick23 wrote: ↑28 Mar 2018, 12:15It wasn’t a big fight in the UK. That's fair comment. Whilst bt have the wherewithal to afford such an event sky do have the proven track recordmaverick23 wrote: ↑28 Mar 2018, 12:15It wasn’t a big fight in the UK. It did less than 70,000 views and that’s not on a PPV platform.

Plus it was a fight which took place in the States, which means middle of the night here, so always going to draw a smaller crowd.maverick23 wrote: ↑28 Mar 2018, 14:05I didn’t say it wasn’t PPV but it had far less than 100,000 buys. Would you say less than 100,000 PPV buys for a fight like that is a success and shows allegedly PPV has the ability to deliver a huge fight properly like Joshua v Fury?
You can get in AJ tomorrow night well below face value, too. Touts have lost out big time again.Deserter wrote: ↑28 Mar 2018, 12:11I’m going off on a tangent, but for what it’s worth I was at that fight and i’m far from convinced Canelo is the draw he’s portrayed to be. Maybe, but you've been caught talking bollocks about attendances plenty of times here in the past so I don't know how trustworthy you are. Takes a very pissed man to look at twenty thousand people and only see a sixth of them.mickey1975 wrote: ↑30 Mar 2018, 06:39You can get in AJ tomorrow night well below face value, too. Again I’m not really sure what the fact that some people that bought for resale are struggling to sell when they’ve sold the vast bulk of 80,000 tickets has to do with this.mickey1975 wrote: ↑30 Mar 2018, 06:39You can get in AJ tomorrow night well below face value, too.
