Leonard-Hagler was like that. Almost all the rounds were close. I scored that particular fight a few times and usually had Leonard up by 1 or 2 rounds. One judge had Leonard up something like 10-2 and got a lot of flak for that, but with all rounds being close and if you like a particular style doesn't mean that judge was on the take or anything like so many people thought.

Score the fight again while keeping in mind how much of each round Leanard actually fought. He pulled an old Ali trick; letting it all out the final 30 seconds (or less) of each round after much less activity the first 2.5 minutes....brilliant strategy really, and IMHO fooled the judges.Tony1244 wrote: ↑01 Apr 2018, 09:14Leonard-Hagler was like that. After watching it at home sober and unemotional, I realized Hagler did a lot of good body work.

On the other hand, people who give it to Parker or have it a draw thing that Parker took some rounds just because he wasn't hit that much. The fact that he didn't land much himself is ignored.
Re: A glorified sparring session. . . .fixed fight
That's right, but I'm not talking about that. I was saying, that Parker showed more effort, thus it can't be said, that he did nothing, like it had been claimed before in this topic.

joe was a bit as fury was vs him when they fought...lot of punches just thrown as nothng shots from a really cautious dstance wth no chance of landng . punches that are thrown but really show very little aggresson or 'pushing' of the fight

Even as a Joshua fan, I couldn't help but be reminded of Joe Cortez in the Hatton- Mayweather fight. However this time I'd give the benefit of doubt to the ref Giuseppe Quartarone.x2x wrote: ↑01 Apr 2018, 01:50KiwiRider wrote: ↑31 Mar 2018, 23:56Thisamwsnw wrote: ↑31 Mar 2018, 22:51 I had it 116 / 112 AJ.
It was a hard and very frustrating fight to watch. The English commentary was terribly bias (what's new ) but the REF i feel ruined the fight. Who selected this fellow? If Parker's team did their homework they should've appealed before the bell rung. Parker's best chance was never going to be from the outside and it turned into an outside fight, forced by the REF.
I'd like to see Parker fight Wilder, and the winner of that get a crack at AJ.........with a REF who lets the fghters fight.![]()
Parker did well considering he wasn't allowed to fight on the inside. How could a guy that much deficincy in both height and reach do much on the outside anyway.
That was the biggest shame of the fight.
This crooked ref reminds me of another crooked ref, joe cortez, in the hatton-mayweather fight in that most honest of all cities, las vegas. Same as Parker, Hatton needed to fight on the inside, and Cortez immediately dived in whenever they came close. Boxing is such a wonderfully honest sport. Boxing is almost as honest as Las Vegas.
He didn't have a good night and was definitely over-protective towards Joshua but still nowhere in the Joe Cortez class of corruption.
Or perhaps I'm being naive, perhaps the ref just wasn't as 'skilled' as Cortez?

Clearly both Cortez and Quarterone were told by their bosses to protect the house fighter. Boxing is filled up with refs and judges doing that, as well as fighters taking dives or just not trying too hard. What they neglect to do is send the refs and fighters they are working with in for a few acting lessons. The Cortez's and Quarterones aren't that bright, nor are the fighters taking dives, and they overdo it and make it too obvious. Or maybe they just get carried away trying to please their bosses. But really, it's at the stage now where the boxing gangsters just don't even care anymore. Right in the suckers' faces, they don't care. At least the mugs with the rolls of cash used to have the grace to hide in the shadows. Now the Don Kings and all are right on center stage. Joe Cortez was even photographed hugging and broadly smiling with Mayweather right after the Hatton fight. FU, suckers. They don't care.

He shouldnt. IMO he's the best heavyweight in the world, but I would like to see it. That's all. Im not saying he has to. Wilder v Joshua i say, but i'd like to see him against Parker with a ref who allows them to fight on the inside.MrGuy wrote: ↑31 Mar 2018, 22:55Why should Wilder fight Parker before getting a shot at Joshua?amwsnw wrote: ↑31 Mar 2018, 22:51 I had it 116 / 112 AJ.

What a pudendum of a fight the fight was a stinker the ref stunk so did the judge's and Hearn he is one putrid money hungry imposter if I ever seen one THE SCAM WENT OFF WITH OUT AN ITCH

Re: A glorified sparring session. . . .fixed fight
Didn't seem that way to me.
Yeah a bit stand offish but there didn't look like any shenanigans.
Looked like Joshua played it safe got a work out and added another belt to his collection.
