Wbss: The heavyweights
Wbss: The heavyweights
I know it's been discussed in the past....but I just think with mandatory status etc and other ambitions the key players could get involved and get this going asap.
Here would be my seeding.
1. Joshua
2. Wilder
3. T Fury
4. Povetkin
5. Ortiz.
6. Pulev (or Possibly parker or charr)
7. Whyte
8. Miller
Quarter final 1.
Joshua vs Miller (gives aj his usa debut)
Qf 2
Povetkin vs Ortiz (Wba title eliminator)
Qf 3
Wilder vs Whyte (wbc title vs mandatory)
Qf 4.
Fury vs 6th seed (whoever out of those 3 would give Fury a ranking).
Semi finals
Winner qf 1 vs winner qf 2
Winner qf 3 vs winner qf 4.
Here would be my seeding.

Re: Wbss: The heavyweights
If it would be done over a reasonable time table I'd love to see it. So it wouldn't be two losses and your out. It's one and done.
Re: Wbss: The heavyweights
That'd be an awesome Tournament
Re: Wbss: The heavyweights
So are you putting up the money to make it happen or is Hearn?
Re: Wbss: The heavyweights
That's bloody tasty Stu, oh how I wish it would happen.
Unfortunately half of them are fight twice a year premadonnas.
I think a WBSS is possible, but only with guys outside the top #8.
And don't forget your mouthwatering list has a few old fellas, you would need some standbys for injuries etc

Yeah I know....just seems with so many eliminators/mamdatories being announced...why not make it into a tournsmemt.....not going to happen I know.KiwiRider wrote: ↑02 Apr 2018, 19:57 That's bloody tasty Stu, oh how I wish it would happen.

're standbys it would be the usual suspects who seem to be always around these mandatory status....e.g. breazele, the ebu champion, del boy etc.

Del Boy drops into the final on an injury substitution, and lands the haymaker on Wilder or Joshua................oh yes

Re: Wbss: The heavyweights
Can’t see it happening at Heavyweight.
WBSS is great for a division in boosting general overall income.
Joshua wouldn’t enter as he’s getting vast sums already.
Only way this happens is if you take AJ out. Winner gets AJ.

Re: Wbss: The heavyweights
Yes, valid point - Kalle though has said between sniffs on IFL that one of the principle reasons for getting Muhammad Ali's trademark involved is to make a heavyweight edition. I guess it would depend on any other deal - perhaps Hearn could develop more of an "hands on" role and therefore £££/$$$ in future tournaments as part of the negotiations to get AJ on board.PredatorHayds wrote: ↑05 Apr 2018, 10:23 Can’t see it happening at Heavyweight.

I don't think there has been any indication that all the fighters are on the same wage and venue etc seems to be negotiated after each contest. If AJ needs to fight these mandatories, then why not make it as part of a tournament and perhaps being part of a tournament might make the sanctioning bodies be a bit more flexible in terms of fulfilling such obligations.

Re: Wbss: The heavyweights
It would be great but with AJ making 20+ for any fight he has, the money wouldn't be there for it.
Re: Wbss: The heavyweights
I guess it would depend on how they structure it....i cannot see why they cannot structure aj's fights in the same / similar way as his fights are structured now.....e.g. so the promoters are still making money.Nightmare Roy wrote: ↑05 Apr 2018, 20:20 It would be great but with AJ making 20+ for any fight he has, the money wouldn't be there for it.
I don't see a reason why ajs fights could not be in big stadiums with sky box office supporting etc. The current set up is using different sized venues based on the magnitude of each individual fight. If they negotiated a separate package for aj's involvement then why not.....if he lost in the first round they wouldn't need to worry about will he continue to sell out stadiums and ppv numbers as he would be out.
If Eddie can make money on aj then why cannot the tournament. Yes it would mean huge Eddie involvement.....but then why not.

Not sure Charr should get a mention alongside Pulev and Parker, giving him far too much creditstujones wrote: ↑02 Apr 2018, 19:32 I know it's been discussed in the past....but I just think with mandatory status etc and other ambitions the key players could get involved and get this going asap.

Re: Wbss: The heavyweights
If Perhaps Eddie had secured some deal to get into the financial pot for all future WBSS fights - even those not involving Matchroom fights.... Highly unlikely yes, but Eddie and Kalle have worked closely and well together in the past. Seem to have a good relationship. Kalle's fights were once shown exclusively on fightpass.mickey1975 wrote: ↑06 Apr 2018, 03:26Because why would Matchroom share with anyone?stujones wrote: ↑05 Apr 2018, 22:59I guess it would depend on how they structure it....i cannot see why they cannot structure aj's fights in the same / similar way as his fights are structured now.....e.g. so the promoters are still making money.Nightmare Roy wrote: ↑05 Apr 2018, 20:20 It would be great but with AJ making 20+ for any fight he has, the money wouldn't be there for it.

Yes, I was thinking Charr if Fury wanted an easier comeback fight.keirw wrote: ↑06 Apr 2018, 04:24Not sure Charr should get a mention alongside Pulev and Parker, giving him far too much creditstujones wrote: ↑02 Apr 2018, 19:32 I know it's been discussed in the past....but I just think with mandatory status etc and other ambitions the key players could get involved and get this going asap.

Re: Wbss: The heavyweights
The problem you have with this is when one fighter has 3 of the belts, there’s not actually much doubt as to who the main man is. Chuck in that Joshua earns more for fighting Carlos Takam than the other 7 names mentioned have made between them in their entire careers, well, it’s going to difficult to convince Joshua and his promoter/team that he needs to enter anything like this
Shame because it’s a good line up.

Charr shouldn't be in the mix. He is definitely not a top-10 fighterstujones wrote: ↑02 Apr 2018, 19:32 I know it's been discussed in the past....but I just think with mandatory status etc and other ambitions the key players could get involved and get this going asap.
