Lots of fighters would get destroyed at world level. It doesn't mean that they should all stop fighting.
Price needs to start fighting at his level, not way below it with the journeymen, then way above it with the likes of Povetkin.
I think the problem for Price is that even at lower levels, he is quite likely to get knocked out. He spends too long standing in front of opponents with his hands down, that's why he got iced last night, add to that poor punch resistance, and really you've got a recipe for repeated knockouts.
I was in the stadium last night and it was a sickening sight to see him knocked out so badly, time seemed to stand still as we waited for that left hook to land, the excitement he had brought beforehand was soon forgotten. He had that big right hand cocked from the start but just didn't want to throw it, as someone said earlier in the thread he has the 'yips' and I don't think he can overcome it at his age and at this stage of his career. During most of his interviews in the build up to this fight he talked himself down and seemed to be preparing to fail, he's just too nice for this sport.
It was bad enough on tv mate.
I put a similarity of Clubber Lang knocking out Rocky Balboa in their first fight.
In all seriousness though it looked pretty bad from here too.
A really grim knock out that was surely not good for his health.
Any ideas on how much Pricey was paid for that?
The domestic scene has a lot of fighters on the up. Dubois, Joyce, Hughie, Gorman.... Not sure Pricey would do well in a shootout with the first 2 or trying to chase the lighter punchers around the ring...

Well he wanted to come back and win a domestic title so I don't see why he shouldn't continue. This Povetkin fight just happened to be too good to turn down where he did his best and came out with a lot of respect. Would love to see him win a title if he continues in the sport.
In truth, I don't want him to carry on boxing. He's suffered some hard KO losses. The book is officially closed on ever getting another chance at a World title fight.
Wilder wouldn't consider the fight, Joshua is looking at bigger fights, Whyte has Wilder or Povetkin in his sights and Parker will want to get a decent come back fight before moving back into world contention.
If he doesn't retire, the best Price can do now is go out on a win for either the British Title if he can beat the winner of Sexton vs Fury or the Commonwealth Title if he can win against and would want to fight Lenroy Thomas. Both fights would be very big 'Maybe' fights now if he could get them and if a promoter would want to risk him getting in the ring again

Mimmy it looks even worse on tv to be honest mate. Price seems to have zero survival instinct and thats a bad trait in heavyweight boxing!
I'd say fight Sexton for the British but with Joyce, Dubios and Gorman probably eyeing up that belt in the next year that might not be the best option either. Not saying he can't beat any of those but there's only so many times you get can knocked out cold before it starts becoming seriously damaging to your long term health.

I've not read all the threads on here so I don't know if anybody else has said this but it reminded me of Roy Jones vs Lebedev, where Jones was out on his feet and took an unnecessarily brutal final shot. It was sad because you could see Price's passion from the first knockdown and how frustrated he was for being caught. I really felt for him.
Has anybody else said that AJ-Parker reminded them of Haye-Wlad?
I'd also like to add that, should he want to, I think Price should have one more fight and go out on a win. He was built as the next big thing and it must be terribly upsetting for him to find out that he wasn't and be exposed as numerous times. He's a good guy and I think a lot of people like him. When I read people thinking him being KO'd is funny and shit, it depresses me. The other night he was confident and brave and didn't shit the bed: he was just horribly overmatched and did far, far better than expected.
He has my eternal respect for giving it everything and considering his previous timid performances he deserves some sort of accolade just for knocking down Povetkin and hanging in there so long in what was basically a suicide mission. I'd start a Price appreciation thread but I'd fear it wouldn't go beyond a page or so.
Not enough credit has been given to Povetkin for the win either. That last right hand was a beauty the way he set it up. Price was convinced that all he had to worry about was the left hook and when Povetkin threw that soft left hook to the body Price thought he was safe. The right hand seemed to come out of nowhere and Price had no idea what hit him. Povetkin worked on that shot. The left hook to finish the job was brutal.
I think he should call it a day, he has the power to hurt anyone but his chin will always let him down. I wouldn't be surprised if he carries on though, all set up to be Fury's comeback opponent.
I don't care if Price continues or not. It's his career, and his health. I honestly can't imagine there's much left for him in terms of big money fights or opportunities, but if I'm wrong and there's still money for him to make I wish him luck.
