Will keep it simple.

Ref poor.

Joshua controlled the fight pretty much completely and won 9-3 imo.

I saw nothing that indicated Parker would have won inside, Joshua looked strong in there and other than backing up in straight lines was untroubled.

Parker took about two or three counter left hooks on the way in, but nothing significant, and they were the only decent punches in the whole fight except Joshua's sharp jab.

Parker was throwing shots that the guys at the top of the stadium would have seen daylight between, the compubox stats are irrelevant. If that is a Parker win or a draw without landing anything of note, I'm very confused (which isn't impossible)... all I saw was Joshua do pretty much as he wanted 90% of the time.

Apparently you cannot count clean landed punches... Joshua landed twice as many with more impact.

No bombs landed like the Joshua-Klitschko Fight... They fought a lot harder with no interference from the referee... That made for a fight that was 10 X as good... The referee who worked last night should never work again.

But I'll tell you what... I've seen much worse... Lou Moret for instance -- and many more TERRIBLE referees.

Given both are champs, I would have been satisfied with a draw. or at least a split decision. But Parker did not win. I would say he did enough to defend the belt arguably.

Povetkin looked decent I agree, but how much does he have left in the tank for a young Top 10 heavyweight?
One thing we fail to address here is that Parker has been living a charmed life recently, receiving favourable points victories against Takam, Ruiz and Hughie, where it could quite easily have gone the other way!
Valid yes, he has been in very close decisions versus some solid competition.

Thank you for the complement x2x but no I really don't think it was anything more sinister than a sh1t overzealous and inexperienced referee. Team Joshua have always had great faith in his ability as evidenced by the speed at which his career has moved.

I honestly don't believe Eddie would have thought they needed an edge.

Of course I could be wrong.

Well, that just shows that besides being a "devious bastard" you actually have a brain, unlike Mayweather and his accomplice referee Cortez, who performed a similar service, keeping Hatton from fighting on the inside where he needed to be. Those two, cortez and mayweather, were hugging and kissing for the cameras after the fight!

I figure what happened the other night was one of the bosses dropped a casual but significant remark - they don't leave paper trails or even talk in plain english - to the italian guy in the referee costume , something like, "Hey, make sure Parker doesn't mess around too much on the inside!" And then signor ref, figuring he'd make extra brownie points with the bosses, got overzealous.

Luis - Joshua wasn't that overwhelmingly awesome compared to Parker last night. I don't even think he deserved the win, unless maybe he shares it jointly with the ref. Parker weighs only a couple of pounds more than Povetkin. You don't think Parker is that much better than Povetkin do you?
But styles make fights and Parker was backing away from Joshua for the most part but still lost nearly every round whilst surviving from suffering a knockout loss. Whilst Povetkin comes forward and attacks ultra-aggressively a lot of the times whilst leaving himself wide open. Which makes him far more susceptible to Joshua's enormously strong physical onslaught of punches which I don't Povetkin could really take. This is why I believe it's a horrible stylistic match up for Sasha. What do you think?

What i think is: I respect your articulate opinions, but i hope to see quite a different outcome should the fight ever occur, which i doubt, because i don't think the US-UK boxing bosses want Russia to bust into their Joshua & Wilder Inc. exclusive rsvp private tea party..
I hope for the same thing that you do. But my expectations are different!

Compubox stats are irrelevant because it suits you yet if The fight was a draw as it should have been according to compubox then what ?

Also even if Parker lost on inside he would have forced Joshua to work and it was clear the entire game plan of Parker was to attack body and take Joshua’s into deep water where his stamina has failed him during middle rounds.

The ref made the fight easy for Joshua and yet it was still a draw according to compubox which isn’t rigged or biased.

You're right x2x I do have brain, it came in this nice presentation box. My wife is always telling me to use it but I figure the longer I can delay doing that, the longer it's going to last me when I finally do :OhYes:

I appreciate that team Parker don't want to come across as sore losers, but there is quite a lot of slack to take up before that happens. They could easily have indicated their dissatisfaction with the result without looking like whingers, but (apart from Kevin Barry's entirely reasonable criticism of the ref) they were very clear that Joe had lost the fight but would be back.

In view of their admirable and unambiguous honesty, I don't understand how anyone else can claim that team Parker are wrong and that Joe did in fact win the fight. :maybe:

Ha ha best thing you can do with your brain, not use it, keep it like new, low mileage, keeps up the resale value. That's what i do. No, Parker didn't really win. I engaged in a bit of hyperbole and/or artistic license whilst creating the motif for this thread, something like that. If i were in charge I'd call it no contest and order an immediate rematch, and interogate that referee impersonator and find out who told him to do behave like that. Same thing with the Wilder - Ortiz fight and the ref who gave Wilder extra recovery time at a critical juncture Same thing with just about every single ref in every single high profile fight in Las Vegas. Judges too of course.

Yes I was keeping that as an option. It's why I kept the packaging.

I'm gratified to hear you didn't really think Joshua lost, I mean I can understand Grailer as a Kiwi seeing it through all-black tinted glasses, but you can't use that excuse.

I love your idea about getting officials to publicly explain themselves :TU:

x2x wrote: 01 Apr 2018, 14:33 If there was any integrity and honesty in boxing - which of course there isn't - the fraudulent Joshua decision would be overturned and Parker declared the winner because he was clearly fighting two people, Joshua and the hired hand in the referee suit who wouldn't let him fight on the inside, which, having much shorter reach, he had to do. Then the so called judges made it equally obvious, with their lopsided pre-filled out scorecards, that they too were on the payroll. This sort of thing is a constant now in the US and UK in almost all high profile fights, refs aiding and abetting the house fighter - Wilder-Ortiz, Mayweather-Kovalev, etc etc etc.

They made professional wrestling stop referring to themselves as a sport and use the term sports entertainment instead. They need to make boxing do that too, except really boxing is much darker than wrestling, which is obviously a silly carny show. Boxing should be made to call themselves "Organized Crime Sports Exhibition" or something like that.
Parker didn’t do nearly enough to win and was disappointing. The Ref was bloody awful, but no worse than what happened in the Wilder/Ortiz fight.

Grailer give it up ffs and show some Kiwi class like team Parker. Compubox is not the word of God.

FYI you are one of 179 people on planet Earth that did not have Joshua as a clear winner - figures supplied by compubollox :D

If compubox is the true judge of a fight we quite literally may as well pack up and go home.

Yeah, we might have to smack Quarterone - is that his name? - around a little bit, do the good cop-bad cop routine, you know how it goes, until he starts naming names. Then we'll bring in the Wilder referee, Joe Cortez, the whole lot, one after the other. Make them talk and name names, check out their income tax returns, check out their recent large purchases. Then their judges, Adelaide Byrd, the whole Las Vegas mob. Their hired politicians too, Senator Harry Reid. I want to hear the details about how his rubber band exerciser beat the crap out of him. We could sell tickets to that one.

I'm not sure what your obsession with the Mayweather vs. Hatton referee. That was one of the clearest victories you will see. As much as I was a massive fan of Hatton, and wanted him to snatch victory from the cocky American as much as the next guy, but he was completely outclassed.

What does Parker know about it anyway? If Grailer says he won I don't see that Parker is qualified to venture a contrary opinion. Besides, having Joshua's glove permanently in your face interferes with your view of the action.
