Re: Pro trainer allowed in semi pros?
Meh, I’m not really onboard with that as a justification.
When you become a license holder part of the application and the rules you agree to abide by state that you cannot be involved in any combat sport outside of BBBoC professional boxing and I believe that if you don’t want to agree that is absolutely fine - don’t become a license holder.

Blind eyes need to be turned or there’ll be no pro boxing left! Let’s face it, unlicensed is here to stay, very popular and accessible and a lot of fights are better than your 40-36 down the card shows. They are incredibly boring and promoters are ruining good fighters with ticket demands. Every fighter I know apologises for even asking!leejonesjnr wrote: ↑17 Apr 2018, 17:10Meh, I’m not really onboard with that as a justification.

Yes unlicensed boxing and now also bare knuckle boxing are seemingly going nowhere. However pro boxing has no need to make allowances or change rules to accommodate unlicensed boxing.mickey1975 wrote: ↑17 Apr 2018, 17:36Blind eyes need to be turned or there’ll be no pro boxing left! Some people will have you believe that MMA is killing boxing, that’s nonsense too.

I’m a big fan of the traditional amateur-pro route but the lines are getting blurred.

Also, pro boxing has changed its rules, or at the very least tolerated it. It’s not even a secret. All involved with Haye-Del just carried on regardless. Or did one get made a scapegoat of?

Personally I divide boxing in Britain into 3 simple core organisations:
Professional Boxing - BBBofC - established 1929
Amateur Boxing - ABA - established 1880
Mickey Mouse Boxing - Unlicensed/Semi Pro/White Collar - Established by whomever whenever
Think that clears everything up.

Its only about 12 months ago that in Wales the amateur boxing association changed their rules to allow people who had fought semi pro to fight amateur.mickey1975 wrote: ↑18 Apr 2018, 00:50 I’m a big fan of the traditional amateur-pro route but the lines are getting blurred.
Before the rule change if you’d fought any semi pro (unlicensed whatever ) fights you were barred from WABA. About 12 months ago they changed the rules due to pressure from fighters and coaches to allow fighters who have fought semi pro to come into amateurs providing they go straight to open class

Is that right? Is it documented publically anywhere?leejonesjnr wrote: ↑17 Apr 2018, 17:10

Re: Pro trainer allowed in semi pros?
Not read any comments so may well have been asked already, but WHAT THE F*UCK is semi pro
Re: Pro trainer allowed in semi pros?
The point about boxing for other organisations is set out in regulations 4.12 and 5.15 of the BBBofC regulations and applies to all licence holders - in short, you can only box on board shows and on shows of organisations recognised by / affiliated to the board, and in the latter case you still need to get permission. Those regs are in the little green book that all licence-holders have.Wales wrote: ↑19 Apr 2018, 22:01Is that right? Is it documented publically anywhere?leejonesjnr wrote: ↑17 Apr 2018, 17:10

Ha! Good try, Mickey! I'm afraid I'm bound by the confidentiality agreement that all people on Area Councils sign up to, so could not say even if I knew about it. In any event, it was all dealt with by the stewards at head office - I am not a big enough cheese for such things (thankfully!).mickey1975 wrote: ↑23 Apr 2018, 09:20Who ended up getting in trouble for Luxembourg?olij999 wrote: ↑23 Apr 2018, 09:02The point about boxing for other organisations is set out in regulations 4.12 and 5.15 of the BBBofC regulations and applies to all licence holders - in short, you can only box on board shows and on shows of organisations recognised by / affiliated to the board, and in the latter case you still need to get permission. What are your thoughts on license holders getting involved in unlicensed boxing and the BBBoC not acting?olij999 wrote: ↑23 Apr 2018, 09:31Ha! Good try, Mickey! Re: Pro trainer allowed in semi pros?
I have personally seen several licences withdrawn for licence holders being involved in unlicensed boxing so the board do act when they have cast iron evidence etc but having said that some area councils turn a blind eye to it which is a major problem that the board have there is a lack of consistency across all area councilsleejonesjnr wrote: ↑29 Apr 2018, 14:24What are your thoughts on license holders getting involved in unlicensed boxing and the BBBoC not acting?olij999 wrote: ↑23 Apr 2018, 09:31Ha! Me too. I’m also aware of a number of current license holders who are involved in unlicensed boxing and happen to know that Robert Smith is also aware. The evidence in each case is indeed cast iron.spudder56 wrote: ↑29 Apr 2018, 14:41I have personally seen several licences withdrawn for licence holders being involved in unlicensed boxing so the board do act when they have cast iron evidence etcleejonesjnr wrote: ↑29 Apr 2018, 14:24What are your thoughts on license holders getting involved in unlicensed boxing and the BBBoC not acting?olij999 wrote: ↑23 Apr 2018, 09:31
