Round-by-Round - Tony Bellew vs. David Haye II - 5 May 2018
Re: Round-by-Round - Tony Bellew vs. David Haye II - 5 May 2018
See, I do something incredibly nice like this, and a few people acknowledge it. I sh*t on David Haye, and nobody lets me hear the end of it
People see what they wanna see I guess.
I appreciate it though. I try to look out for my fellow fight fans. Even if I get a little over the top in my opinions from time to time.

Andre Dirrell and Adrien Broner pull the quick trigger too
Robert Guerrero did as well, but thankfully he's not around anymore.
I previously had a big problem with Deontay Wilder also, but his performance against Luis Ortiz went a long way in him gaining my respect.

Aye we've all got fighters who do that. Khan and Broner are pretty high on my list.gilgamesh wrote: ↑06 May 2018, 10:50Andre Dirrell and Adrien Broner pull the quick trigger too![]()

In the case of most fighters who make my sh*t list, they can still redeem themselves through showings of courage or otherwise impressive performances.
Fury, Haye, Dirrell and Robert Guerrero are some of the only people that ever earned themselves a permanent stay on my sh*t list where there's pretty much nothing they could ever do to change my opinion of them.

It's not closed on his career, but he'll never be able to do anything where I wouldn't hate him with a passion.ewenhay wrote: ↑06 May 2018, 11:02The book isn't closed on Fury yet though Gil?gilgamesh wrote: ↑06 May 2018, 10:55 In the case of most fighters who make my sh*t list, they can still redeem themselves through showings of courage or otherwise impressive performances.

Who would you root for in a Haye v Fury match up?gilgamesh wrote: ↑06 May 2018, 11:03It's not closed on his career, but he'll never be able to do anything where I wouldn't hate him with a passion.ewenhay wrote: ↑06 May 2018, 11:02The book isn't closed on Fury yet though Gil?gilgamesh wrote: ↑06 May 2018, 10:55 In the case of most fighters who make my sh*t list, they can still redeem themselves through showings of courage or otherwise impressive performances.

Re: Round-by-Round - Tony Bellew vs. David Haye II - 5 May 2018
I'd root for the fight to go 12 hard fought rounds with both fighters battering, and bloodying each other up to the max, and then both land a KO shot at the last possible second, and it ends in a Double Knockout draw so that they both lose.
My answer used to be the same for "Who would you root for with Wilder vs Fury", but now I'd rather just see Wilder smoke him in 1 round.
Re: Round-by-Round - Tony Bellew vs. David Haye II - 5 May 2018
Lol, that's how a Khan v Broner fight plays out in my head too.

No, credit where it is due, that was a fantastic show of generosity to your fellow man.gilgamesh wrote: ↑06 May 2018, 10:46See, I do something incredibly nice like this, and a few people acknowledge it. I sh*t on David Haye, and nobody lets me hear the end of it![]()

Re: Round-by-Round - Tony Bellew vs. David Haye II - 5 May 2018
I'm not saying Bellew beats Fury, but considering Fury has never really been a big puncher, it's no higher risk than taking on the likes of Haye. I think Bellew makes a fight of it, and is beaten on points, largely because of range issues (Bellew gives 7 inches away to Fury), but fancy Bellew to catch Fury at least once if it turns out to be a slug-fest on the inside.
Re: Round-by-Round - Tony Bellew vs. David Haye II - 5 May 2018
And I don't even recall ever particularly getting along with Horse at any point in the past so it goes to show that I can let bygones be bygones fairly easy (with my fellow Boxrec'ers at least), and extend a helping hand as needed.Rob3_142 wrote: ↑06 May 2018, 16:05No, credit where it is due, that was a fantastic show of generosity to your fellow man.gilgamesh wrote: ↑06 May 2018, 10:46See, I do something incredibly nice like this, and a few people acknowledge it. He probably thought I was kidding with him when I offered to do the transcript for him, but I was sincere, and I just did it anyway because I really felt bad for the guy that he paid his money and got jipped out of seeing part of the show. That ain't right. Anybody deserves to get what they paid for.
Re: Round-by-Round - Tony Bellew vs. David Haye II - 5 May 2018
I've never seen anything from Fury to expect that he'd deal out a heavy beating to anybody. He might outbox some people thoroughly, but I can't see him working over anybody in a "brutal" fashion. Even Bellew.Rob3_142 wrote: ↑06 May 2018, 16:09I'm not saying Bellew beats Fury, but considering Fury has never really been a big puncher, it's no higher risk than taking on the likes of Haye. Let's be honest here, nobody gets on with Horse, he's one of the most polarising posters, which somewhat amplifies the level of kudos to you.gilgamesh wrote: ↑06 May 2018, 16:09And I don't even recall ever particularly getting along with Horse at any point in the past so it goes to show that I can let bygones be bygones fairly easy (with my fellow Boxrec'ers at least), and extend a helping hand as needed.Rob3_142 wrote: ↑06 May 2018, 16:05No, credit where it is due, that was a fantastic show of generosity to your fellow man.gilgamesh wrote: ↑06 May 2018, 10:46

I try. I know I can be a disagreeable sort myself at times, but I'm really a nice guy who just isn't shy about expressing his opinion in the harshest words on occasion
Thanks though

Re: Round-by-Round - Tony Bellew vs. David Haye II - 5 May 2018
Well I think it is fair to say that prior to the first Haye - Bellew fight, Haye was regarded as someone with one punch knockout power. In two fights, Bellew has been tagged with a number of big shots, and eaten them all up for supper, with nothing more than a wobble. I think many underestimate 1) Bellew's power and 2) Bellew's chin.gilgamesh wrote: ↑06 May 2018, 16:11I've never seen anything from Fury to expect that he'd deal out a heavy beating to anybody. Yeah even though he was knocked out by Adonis Stevenson that could've been almost as much a case of him being just too big for the Light Heavyweight division, and having drained too much as much as anything else. Draining to make weight don't help nobody. He's certainly looked better above Light Heavyweight, I don't think anybody could dispute that.Rob3_142 wrote: ↑06 May 2018, 16:17Well I think it is fair to say that prior to the first Haye - Bellew fight, Haye was regarded as someone with one punch knockout power. The way Haye's feet were set the whole time in the 2nd fight I don't think he even could've gotten a lot of power on his shots against Bellew. He tried his best, but something was off in his whole approach (probably just the injuries adding up). He couldn't get full force on his shots.
Re: Round-by-Round - Tony Bellew vs. David Haye II - 5 May 2018
I'm still yet to watch Bellew-Haye 2, waiting for Youtube to do its magic.gilgamesh wrote: ↑06 May 2018, 16:22Yeah even though he was knocked out by Adonis Stevenson that could've been almost as much a case of him being just too big for the Light Heavyweight division, and having drained too much as much as anything else. But I watched the first fight again this morning, and you could tell throughout that he was labouring his back leg, which you need to push off for your power shots. He was throwing all his shots from the hip and the shoulders, which would be a lot easier to shrug off got Bellew.
Re: Round-by-Round - Tony Bellew vs. David Haye II - 5 May 2018
valery brudov had bellew seriously wobbelled at cruiser and makabu had him down with like the first and only clean shot he landed. bellews chins may have improved moving up to cruiser, but it didnt suddenly didnt get better from adding on 10 pounds of fat to fight haye.
hayes technique was f@cked for both fights and theres no way that did impair his power.
fury isnt a puncher but hes not featherfisted and i dont doubt that he can hurt bellew if hes landing regularly. i dont know what fury would bring these days but i suspect that if hes serious about it hed still have enough to beat bellew comfortably.

I missed this, Adam Smith I assume you mean, when did he say Haye was rumoured to have flown to Germany again?sweetmagee wrote: ↑05 May 2018, 18:05 Smith mentioned there that there were rumours of Haye having flown to Germany this week....exactly like last time. Sky forgot to mention that in the build-up. Haye looked shot / plodding and dragging his right leg throughout. Fair play to Bellew though - nicely done.

Yes, Adam Smith definitely mentioned a 'rumoured' trip to Germany - think it was just after the stoppage. I forget the exact wording but I'm sure I heard it and it sounded like he was referring to this fight, so not Haye's trip to Germany last time round.

Your right, in between rounds 4 and 5 Smith said there was a rumour he went to Germany to see a specialist the week of the rematch.sweetmagee wrote: ↑07 May 2018, 04:59 Yes, Adam Smith definitely mentioned a 'rumoured' trip to Germany - think it was just after the stoppage.
