Joyce vs. Miller ?

Post by ValMar »

I read on an American site that Joe Joyce was willing to face Miller. Is this a realistic scenario, and what do you think about this potential match ?

Joyce is big, that disables Miller's main advantage of size. Furthermore, Joyce is mobile, what can provide a nightmarish counteraction for Miller. Maybe Joyce looks a bit careless and awkward, but awkwardness can be positive, especially against Miller, cause, despite Miller has shown solid skills, he still appeared to be sluggish and not very ingenious. Maybe Joyce's lack of pro-experience can spoil everything now, but for the moment Joe seems to be such kind of fighter, who has all the potential to defeat the likes of Miller.

I agree with this. Would be a good fight IMO. Either that or boring.

You guys really gotta slow your roll with Joyce. He's 4 fights in for f*cks sake. I realize he just got a pretty damn big win for a guy in only his 4th Pro Contest, but you guys are talking about jumping him up to Top 10 in the World already...pump the brakes.

Joyce urged Miller to forget about landing a fight against the unified champion. He said: ‘Sounds like your making excuses big man. Anthony Joshua and Deontay Wilder are going to fight, so I can be your warm up for the summer. Let’s go to war for the fans.’

Plenty of fights out there like the names mentioned above. I know Joyce is old, but it looks like he's in good shape and form. He should try fighting at least 2-3 more times this year.

Or a lesser level than that even. At least for 1 or 2 more fights.

Who's the current British Heavyweight Champion? Can you unify the British and Commonwealth Titles? He should do that.

You can unify yes..

Apparently, it was said somewhere that the winner of Fury vs. Sexton, who will claim the British title. It would be a mandatory somehow to fight Joyce..

Wait a minute, wait a minute...hold the phone.

I just checked Sam's record, and it says he's scheduled to fight Hughie Fury for the British Title on May 12th...so has that been scrapped or is he planning on fighting both Fury's in a 30 day span?

That's what they said about Lomachenko before he fought Salido and before he fought GRJ. Not all prospects are cut from the same cloth.

Not in his last fight he didn't. In the few Am fights I saw of his, the jab he puts out is a pawing one, then occasionally one of these comes from about 2 metres away :o

He does but it wasn't in evidence against Thomas. Maybe Joe decided he didn't need it.

I agree with Gil that Joyce needs another fight or two before tackling someone like Miller but I love the fact he's aiming so high, so soon.

Miller v Joyce is a mouth-watering prospect I reckon, and not easy to call. In Joyce, Miller might find someone who can last the course better than he can (and I've always said Miller has good stamina despite his bulk). On the other hand Miller throws a lot of punches. Joyce is more heavy handed.

So having weighed it all up, processed all the information, given it serious thought .... my final conclusion ... drumroll please ... is ... fukced if I know :maybe:
