You never saw Liston fight Mike DeJohn, Cleveland Williams.

George Chuvalo sat in the third row.

So.....Liston goes in with a plan to take a dive.......But Ali goofs his plan by actually hitting him hard enough to discombobulate him (a little) which takes him off his focus and he temporarily reverts to instincts which has him attempting to get up after an unplanned genuine flash KD.......then coming to his senses he once again remembers the plan....and BACK DOWN HE GOES........however in his discombobulated state, he decides to get up once again....foiling his own blueprint for the night......BUT HOLD THE PHONE!!!! JWW saves the day with his incompetence and rules the fight is over, after listening to Nat, allowing Liston to get just what he wanted in the first place.
With your mind reading ability you could make a killing in the financial markets.

Why are you wasting your time on a site like this?

A dive is when someone goes down without being hit. Liston got hit on the button and he went down. That ain't a dive.

Doesn't matter if a punch is thrown or not. A dive is a dive...(sometimes a cigar is just a cigar, but this was a dive).

Ever see anyone on a diving board being pushed? Nope, a dive is someone falling without being touched.

Yep. :OhYes: If you think Liston went down easy, that's another thing, but a dive is someone going down with no contact. It's the same in football. There's a soft penalty, there's simulation and there's diving.

Let's just say Liston went down for "little" reason...First time down was by Ali's right, but then it was all Liston. Up on his own, down on his own. How's that?

A flop in Basketball is usually when a player exaggerates contact by 'flopping' to the floor.. Seriously though, taking a dive is with or without a punch.

Especially if you don't HAVE any argument...

Liston WAS hit... AND got to his feet WITHOUT a count—WELL BEFORE HE NEEDED TO GET TO HIS FEET since the NEUTRAL CORNER RULE was in full effect... WHY would he get up and resume fighting if he wanted to take a dive and tank the fight???

Sonny resumed fighting.. He didn't say "NO MAS!!!" and turn his back on Ali, refusing to continue the fight.. THAT’S been done before – and it WASN’T called a dive -- because it was perpetrated by one of Boxing's all time heroes..

Liston was the opposite of an all-time hero. He was a man used to being regularly shat on by self-righteous bastards such as Nat Fleischer and the jerks who populated the Maine Athletic Commission – who decided to make Liston the fall guy to cover their own egregious mistakes. Lewiston Maine was Key Stone Kops City on steroids.

That's wrong. A dive is without contact. Liston got hit clean with a lead right on the point of the chin. It wasn't a dive in any way, shape or form.
