I'm not saying the punch wasn't a good shot.

If anyone has anything other than a fairly lopsided card for Lomachenko prior to the stoppage they got caught up in the drama and were enjoying the fight more than scoring it.
Re: Round-by-Round - Jorge Linares vs. Vasyl Lomachenko - May 12, 2018
LOL, yeah...that's it! I'm a Linares fan and I had Loma up by 3. The cards were ridiculous!!!! We should all go for an officiating license and start scoring on behalf of the fighters and not the sanctioning bodies, et al.
Re: Round-by-Round - Jorge Linares vs. Vasyl Lomachenko - May 12, 2018
The idiot referee kept swaying left to right even while the fighters were standing still. He wasn't paying any attention to what was happening in front of him. Ref was in there for a jog instead.
The ESPN commentators, especially for the first half of the fight, kept talking about diplomacy, middle men, Ukranian dance classes, and everything under the sun but call the fight.

For the reasons you state, I sometimes hit the SAP button and enjoy the fight more.DA1 wrote: ↑12 May 2018, 22:43 The idiot referee kept swaying left to right even while the fighters were standing still. ESPN's commentators don't know jack about boxing to speak off.oogiebe wrote: ↑12 May 2018, 22:44For the reasons you state, I sometimes hit the SAP button and enjoy the fight more.DA1 wrote: ↑12 May 2018, 22:43 The idiot referee kept swaying left to right even while the fighters were standing still. But the ref pissed me off more. He was clearly on some other planet. He took to long to start the count, had to run cause he was off hiking somewhere else. And there were many instances where he should have been giving warnings but his face was turned to the guy selling peanuts than see what was going on in the ring.

1 - The ref missed a couple of low-blows by Linares, so your point well taken on that (lol on "off hiking somewhere else")DA1 wrote: ↑12 May 2018, 22:48ESPN's commentators don't know jack about boxing to speak off.oogiebe wrote: ↑12 May 2018, 22:44For the reasons you state, I sometimes hit the SAP button and enjoy the fight more.DA1 wrote: ↑12 May 2018, 22:43 The idiot referee kept swaying left to right even while the fighters were standing still. 2 - The ESPN dolts were more into sounding smarter than the other rather than talking the fight. Very freakin' annoying.
3 - There is no "I" in Idiot.

Just turned to HBO boxing and they are actually talking boxing like we would in our living room, for the most part.

From the look of their physiques, few of them are using anything remotely like PEDS.
Actually when you sweat a lot (as boxers do in training) and you wear a tight fitting shirt (as boxers often do in training) skin eruptions are very common.
It's the irritation from all the perspiration and the shirt material.
I haven't heard anyone ever whisper about Linares so why not give him the benefit unless he flunks the piss test?

Re: Round-by-Round - Jorge Linares vs. Vasyl Lomachenko - May 12, 2018
It was a great fight.
Lomachenko was clearly dominating for the most of the time, he proved being the favourite for the reason. There was no much drama in Linares dropping Loma, as Loma was more shocked, than hurt. The 9th round was better for Linares, cause then Loma was really hurt. The 9th round was the best thing, that had happened to Lomachenko, because with that Loma had proven, he had been able to overcome troubles. He came back in the 10th knocking Linares out with the body shot working from the head to the body, just like his father had told him to do.
Loma still has troubles with eating some unnecessary shots, but he has made very important thing, he was in real danger and then he came back. That's a definition of the greatness.

How the judges scored the fight either so close of for Linares is beyond me. I though Loma dominated him. Even the round where he got knocked down Loma kicking his ass up until that point. The 9th was a good round for Linares though.

Loma: 2, 3, 4, 5, 8
Linares: 6, 7, 9
Even: 1
I scored the 6th round 10-9, as Loma was beating him up prior to that and, given that it happened at the end of the round, Linares had no real chance to capitalize. Not to mention I think Loma was more shocked/stung than legitimately hurt.
Thus, 87-85 for Loma going into the 10th.

He got stung coming in by a perfect counter right on the button, a bit squared up at the point of impact, too. He popped up a second later and wasn't even wobbly. I'd hardly say he was "very badly" hurt. His chin is solid.oogiebe wrote: ↑13 May 2018, 11:37He was hurt...and very badly...it's a paralyzing blow. He was hurt enough to go down. He was stung pretty good as I see it. Adds more to the performance than it took away. Getting up off the canvas and winning in this fashion only added more gold to Loma. (I'm not even a fan of his).Abradolf Lincler wrote: ↑13 May 2018, 11:45He got stung coming in by a perfect counter right on the button, a bit squared up at the point of impact, too. Here's the knockdown. What about Loma's reaction getting up suggests he was badly hurt?oogiebe wrote: ↑13 May 2018, 11:47He was hurt enough to go down. He was stung pretty good as I see it. He wasn't badly hurt, but he was hurt enough. The dude went down on his duff. Doesn't happen when you're tickled mate.Abradolf Lincler wrote: ↑13 May 2018, 11:52Here's the knockdown. He was hurt. It's pretty much easy to see. He took the round after off for a reason. By the way, he was getting hurt by Linares' combinations. Linares has no power by the way. The guy hits dudes square and doesn't get a reaction, but he had Lomachenko on his ass and hurt.

He has enough to keep foes honest. Not great, but good enough to be effective.
