He does sound like he skipped school.. He's local to me, I like him and I want him to succeed. But I find it hard to keep up. He needs to wow me a little more.
Re: Terry Flanagan vs. Maurice Hooker - June 9th 2018
I see that Charles Adamu is on the undercard. On the wrong side of 40 now.
He has 9 losses including against Tsypko, Froch, Otis Grant, Chilemba, Groves, Fielding and Nielsen (plus two more recent ones) and Groves was the only man to stop him.
He's fighting a Manc LH named Lyndon Arthur who is 10(8)-0. Never heard of him and a quick look at his record explains why. He's fought utter garbage but only been a pro 20 months. Adamu is a HUGE step up in class for him. Wonder what the odds on Adamu are

I like Flanagan, but listening to him speak is like trying to read one of jamamb's postsRuthless-RKO wrote: ↑04 Jun 2018, 03:35He does sound like he skipped school.. He's local to me, I like him and I want him to succeed. But I find it hard to keep up. He needs to wow me a little more.

He will get some valuable rounds/experience against Adamu but he will win.

Re: Terry Flanagan vs. Maurice Hooker - June 9th 2018
I'm hoping to see an improved Flanagan up at the new weight, great chance to become a 2 weight champ and hopefully get the big fights that never came at Lightweight, that's over a year he's been out and he'd been a bit sluggish before the lay off, he allowed the Petrov and Mathews fights to get messy and the Fana win was meh
I remember Hooker getting the gift of a draw against Perez, he's not that much but Flanagan has looked a bit ordinary as well albeit against better opposition, Flanagan is a quality counter puncher but he ties up a lot and sometimes a bit slow in getting going, has lazy spells and Hooker might be a bit too sharp a times for him, I can see Flanagan winning on points but the cards being too wide in his favour

1-8 seems a bit steep a price for a terry win, i managed to get 4-11 in january

Re: Terry Flanagan vs. Maurice Hooker - June 9th 2018

Re: Terry Flanagan vs. Maurice Hooker - June 9th 2018
Tough gruelling fight not always pretty to watch but I had Hooker nicking it 115-114, he was the flashier boxer, crisper punches and was the better man in the second half of the fight, Flanagan started off well landed some nice left hands but Hooker began to time them and then as the fight wore on upped his workrate and landed some nice combinations, Flanagan did seem to hurt Hooker in the middle rounds but he couldn't capatalise and was a bit crude in his attacking, he was dangerous with the head again but it looked like Hooker might have been at fault for the cuts
Flanagan's got heart though and he never gave up, he does look a bit crude at times and short of ideas, he never looked gassed but he needed to do what he done in the first 30 seconds of the 12th more often, needs to throw caution to the wind a bit more, he's got away with it before because he's built up leads on scorecards but he needed a late burst tonight
Scores wide but glad Hooker never got stiffed
