You forgetting Ray Beltran? I was there that night and half the crowd didn’t even bother waiting about for the decision....

Was out the fight, didn't sell well though.
Would be surprised if any world title was up here as u can't see mcguigan being happy with the bums on seats

All the arseholes moaning about "Scotland and voting" your forgetting the judges are overseen by the BBBOC so take your ire and put it on them, probably half of you couldn't even point out were Scotland is on the map any, fornicating clowns

Wankers!
Hi
The Daily Record sports team are absolutely useless and biased as can be evidenced by their daily football coverage
There coverage is shocking, but you know the same stuff went out on the Mirrors website, but of course the fannies on here won't mention that, instead would like to paint as corrupted judges as a "Scottish" thing

Silly scoring, I had Taylor by one point.

Postol reminded me of a mini Wlad in his style. Very basic boxing done very well.

The worst thing about these continoius horrendous scores in Britain are its mostly the foreign judges giving them, yet our reputation continues to dwindle, really bad scoring

I rewatched the fight this morning. Was very close and I scored it a draw.

It does show that although a top talent Taylor is not the second coming that some people make out. He was loading up far too much and his balance was off when he was swinging the Hayemakers. He lost his shape often.

Crawford dealt with a fresher Pistol, an undefeated one with ease.

Problem for Taylor now is that he can't really step back down in levels now. He would have been better served having another 3 or 4 high level opponents under his belt.

The positive side is that he is in a fairly weak division, though with his height he is likely to move up soon

taylors world class at a so so 140 class to me--a good achevment to show after so few pro fghts--but hes defo not a phenom or free of flaws. also thought he was level going into 2nd half vs vasquez and that got overlooked a bit ahead of this fght. had a test when he went to the us as well. it hasnt all been as it was vs ohara.

hes a tenacous pressure fghter wth sharpness insde who gets to guys. but he can be overeager and off balanced and outboxed at tmes. hasnt been great outside. funny because hes tall for 140...not all about heght though when comes to style.

still that rates as one of the best w's anyone has at 140 right now. with craw gone taylor can do a lot. and really taylor should stll have room to develop. really poor scorng but overall a postve for me---even though hes prob not so good at the moment as quite a few thought

despte the hype that it would be easier---stll important to recognize that was a big step up and he still passed. first time past 9 and showed he can end a 12 rounder strong.

give me that over blowouts of 3rd class guys where everyone goes on about how dddestructve they are

I thought it was encouraging that in his interview he identified that he was, A not relaxed too tense and B loading up too much, A and B actually feeding into one another. I actually thought he visibly relaxed like Arthur said in the 9th round, after his worst two rounds, and the later round improvement should be linked to that IMO

Personally I think Postols style, the way he was able to adjust his feet, made Taylor much more tense than usual, the fact that he was more tense early and improved later suggests to me that he was discernibly below par early in the fight, largely IMO down to Postol putting him out of his rhythm.

Long story short, I think the comments on his being off balance are totally fair based on last night but I wouldn't judge him perpetually on the basis of last night- I think he's a much better technical boxer and ring technician than he showed last night, although at the top level I think he will only end up looking like it against quite straightforward opponents stylistically- I think boxers with good footwork may always make him take the role of pressure fighter and he will overextend and look a bit wild. Even as an offensive fighter I always thought he seemed to rely quite a lot on triggering his opponents into false moves and landing his own punches from the opportunities, opponents who are cagey and don't commit much will always give him problems IMO. Also fair to say the big occasion, again encouraging to see him identify this, definitely made him tense and snatch at his shots early rounds and he was much better later when he was letting it flow a bit more.

And I totally agree he should be much better on the outside than he is. He is good from mid-long range with the pull-counter left hand, which again he was loading and snatching earlier but started to really find a home for it rds9+, but he should be much, much better with the jab. Admittedly you won't find many 140lb dudes more difficult to outjab than Postol but Taylor wasn't exactly lighting people up with the jab when he dominated people, it's all the counter left and like you say looking to work shortish shots mid-range and closer. Postol had a home all night with that simple double jab/right to the body, with Taylor's dimensions he should be able to do much more of that.

:salut: Both posts, I'm starting to prefer Taylor on the inside whereas initially I saw him as a smoother outside technician, his inside game is class for a tall upright guy but his outside game is definitely somewhere he needs to work on

You do wonder what Postol would've done to the likes of Flanagan, Catterall and Davies

By the way I'm not sure I've seen it mentioned but fvck me, Postols performance last night, how good does it make Crawford? He's fucken galactically talented man, Postol is a damn good boxer and he made him look like a mug.

That’s Taylor’s own fault for bringing football in the equation.

Looks at Burns - was backed by all and sold 8000-1000 umpteen times.

Taylor was giving it to Hearts fans previously - can’t imagine to many going to follow him. He was then giving it Large when Hibs played Rangers. That’s another load upset - he deleted them all pronto but damage was done.

That’s a lot of fan base saying I’m not going to watch him.

Birth of a champion, he came through harsh fire to win that one.

There’s not many could deal with the rock hard ultra tough Postol like that, even more astounding that is was from such an inexperienced fighter, who must have been really shocked by how tough and dangerous Postol was; getting matched so unmercifully by your promoter too...

Well somehow he found the punches and pure will to win that, massively impressive, but he’s arrived at a word title shot sooner than you’d expect...

Even without the football stuff Taylor has come across badly on social media.

He seems like a bit of an arse.

13 fights in, and without a title, boxrec has Taylor #1 SLW.
Postol was ranked #2.

They are 1 and 2 by default though, due to Crawford and Garcia recently leaving the division.

Does anyone know if Taylor is planning to enter the WBSS?

“I’m not worried about him fighting Jose Ramirez in New York.

“It will be a tough fight but I think he beats him.

“I wouldn’t like to take him to the west coast of the States simply because Ramirez is very popular out there.

“But we’ll see what our budgets are like, we’ll see what the WBSS (World Boxing Super Series) is like as well and see what’s available.

“There are two world titles available there so we won’t cut off our nose to spite our face.

“We’re keeping all out options open, which is the sensible thing to do.”
Seems like they're undecided.

I doubt that I'd be selling out stadiums with my personality either.

If you're an arse then your team should recognise that and try to get you to behave yourself on the internet and whenever a camera is on you.

Aye I thought they worked well together. Bernstein was a breath of fresh air compared to some of the cheerleaders we have on other channels and I thought Alex’s round by round scorecard was fair considering he's obviously a massive fan of Taylor

I think he comes across quite well tbh... All the football stuff is just banter but of course you get scores of knuckle draggers who take it too seriously....
