Because he's been fighting guys that ain't Top 10 that nobody's ever heard of.

He and Fury will be able to sell quite a few PPV's through their outrageous personalities I'd imagine. I might be overestimating it a bit, but I'd figure it'll do at least 500k

it can do good numbers,but up in the 1m showtime buys range seems over the top to me, and if wilders really that big a draw he should be asking why he only was making like 1m for years

Yeah I know, but Cubans don't exactly have a large built in fanbase for Pro Boxing due to it being illegal in Cuba. Fury on the other hand will attract A LOT of attention from U.K. fight fans.

In the same context, I wouldn't expect it to do less than 800K buys.

I don't know why the question posed by this thread is limited to solely PPV buys from Showtime, since it's only a piece of the proverbial jigsaw puzzle, when we should really be looking at the big picture that illustrates the overall commercial success of this event.

If the predictably explosive pressers receive plenty of television exposure, it figures to stimulate interest that might not be there right now.

Off hand I think boxing PPV numbers have been down in recent years, save for Mayweather-McGregor.

The heavily debated, long anticipated Canelo-Golovkin bout last year only did 1.3 million buys. Pre fight forecasts were generally 1 million higher.

Wilder and Fury are hardly the name fighters that Canelo and Golovkin are.

Only their offbeat personalities and pro wrestling hype antics can save this fight from being a box office disaster.

I'll say 475,000.

Throw in the 400,000 or so US Showtime buys and the fight easily cracks 1 million combined.

You guys in the UK are accustomed to watching middle of the night boxing beamed from the U.S.

So would the 3 am or so start really cause too many Brits to forgo this high-profile matchup?
