Between 800K and 1.2 Mil
Re: how many SHOWTIME PPVs will FURY vs WILDER do
really? why do you think so many? neither really seems that big a name. would that be a record for first time us ppv headliners?
wilder is the us a side and he hasnt even been on ppv there and does about 1m on non ppv fights vs guys with just as much usa exposure as fury. hes hardly a canelo.
why has wilder been making like 1m for so long if hes a huge us ppv attraction?

Because he's been fighting guys that ain't Top 10 that nobody's ever heard of.jamamb wrote: ↑21 Aug 2018, 16:29really? why do you think so many? neither really seems that big a name. would that be a record for first time us ppv headliners?

He and Fury will be able to sell quite a few PPV's through their outrageous personalities I'd imagine. I might be overestimating it a bit, but I'd figure it'll do at least 500k
If we're talking strictly U.S. buys it won't do anything like what I initially said, I assumed we were factoring in U.K. and U.S. buys
Re: how many SHOWTIME PPVs will FURY vs WILDER do
ortiz had been on us tv numerous times
it can do good numbers, but up in the 1m showtime buys range seems over the top to me, and if wilders really that big a draw he should be asking why he only was making like 1m for years

Re: how many SHOWTIME PPVs will FURY vs WILDER do
It might break the landmark one million PPV buys figure if we're combining the numbers from both the US and UK territories.
In the same context, I wouldn't expect it to do less than 800K buys.
I don't know why the question posed by this thread is limited to solely PPV buys from Showtime, since it's only a piece of the proverbial jigsaw puzzle, when we should really be looking at the big picture that illustrates the overall commercial success of this event.

300k sounds about right.
Re: how many SHOWTIME PPVs will FURY vs WILDER do
In the US? No more than 250-300. In the UK a lot more, but Fury is probably keeping all the money from that, otherwise idk why he would agree to this fight.

Tough call.
If the predictably explosive pressers receive plenty of television exposure, it figures to stimulate interest that might not be there right now.
Off hand I think boxing PPV numbers have been down in recent years, save for Mayweather-McGregor.
The heavily debated, long anticipated Canelo-Golovkin bout last year only did 1.3 million buys. Pre fight forecasts were generally 1 million higher.
Wilder and Fury are hardly the name fighters that Canelo and Golovkin are.
Only their offbeat personalities and pro wrestling hype antics can save this fight from being a box office disaster.
I'll say 475,000.

200k will be a success for two fighters not known well in the U.S. outside of hardcore fan community.

Strictly on Showtime?. . . . I will say about 600,000

Neither guy is a particularly big draw. I'll go with 200-250K, at least in the US. Maybe in the UK it will do more.

Re: how many SHOWTIME PPVs will FURY vs WILDER do
I saw that Joshua-Klitschko did about 1.5 nmillion in the UK.
So shouldn't Wilder-Fury do more than half that number, even with the wee hour start there?
Throw in the 400,000 or so US Showtime buys and the fight easily cracks 1 million combined.
You guys in the UK are accustomed to watching middle of the night boxing beamed from the U.S.
So would the 3 am or so start really cause too many Brits to forgo this high-profile matchup?
Assuming that it happens, of course.
