Aren’t we lucky to be fans of literally the only sport which puts on PPVs in the UK
It's such a good point that's never mentioned
We have to pay what, £20? To see Bellew and Haye (neither top 10 HWs) and we paid literally fvckall to see to biggest, most important, prestige sporting event in the world (World Cup Final). It's a farce really
Free Events:
The Olympic 100m Final
Wimbledon Final
Champions League Final
The Rugby World Cup Final
etc etc etc
PPV:
Eubank Jr vs Yildirim
Bellew's ego vs Haye's ankle
Cleverly vs Bellew
Haye vs Harrison
Whyte vs Parker (the Everton vs Swansea of Boxing there)
who remembers Khan vs McCluokey?
Mayweather vs someone who's not a boxer
Wasn't the last Callum Smith fight PPV?
The key word there is ‘have’.
You don’t HAVE to pay to watch any boxing, you can choose to pay or to not watch (ignoring the choice to stream).
I would be pleased for all Boxing to be free to watch on TV, but it’s not so I make the choice of paying or not depending on how much I want to see a contest and how much I want to keep £12 or whatever. It isn’t free to go watch the boxing live so why should it be free to get a better view and (often rubbish) ‘expert’ analysis?
Also, with regards the other ‘free’ events, I don’t know without checking for most but the Olympic 100m final was shown on BBC, which is not free.

Eh? BBC is free... Licence fee applies to watching any live TV
To address your point, I can and often do choice to not watch boxing but how does exactly does that improve the profile of the sport? The reason other sports get better profiles is often because they're on free TV

Not quite. The rules were changed to state that you need a tv license to watch all live tv and BBC iPlayer, however the fee still only goes to the BBC.
I’m not sure that investing in raising the profile of the sport is really on anyone’s agenda. Boxing is a small sport and by nature has a finite audience. It’s certainly possible to lift the audience numbers a little but the cost v results are unlikely to be attractive enough for a promoter or broadcaster to go after the extra few.
I’m not sure that many sports have a higher profile. Obviously football does but it also generates huge revenue. Tennis, cricket, etc certainly cost less, F1 generates millions through sponsors etc

It's any live broadcast and they're trying to clamp down on iplayer apparently but that's besides the point
I do agree with you and you make some fair points but if you look at value for money... what we're paying for (and it's not cheap) is appalling
