Re: Danny Garcia vs. Shawn Porter on BxNtn in UK
Great fight really enjoyed I had it 114-114 but cant argue with Porter getting it, he probably did work harder for it in the end, quite a conservative start from him which is pretty unusual, I had Garcia sweeping the first 3 rounds, he was looking sharp and picked his shots nicely and made the most of Porter's slow start, once Porter got going though he seemed to up the pace each round, landed some nice lefts to the body
I thought the last 6 rounds were tough to score, I preferred the stronger looking Porter to the quality punch picking from Garcia, I thought Garcia tied up too much and it probably played a part in the judges giving Porter the majority of the closer rounds
I like Porter he's old school, always in great nick, looks like he lacks the quality of the top Welters but he's just so strong and aggressive, its relentless, as I said I had it even after 12 but felt Porter wanted it more

Suprised he still fights at WW.. has been for a long time now too.. He continues to make weight without looking drained. He's not a small lad either. To think he started his career fighting at MW.. He and Thurman could always move up to LMW.handsofstone wrote: ↑09 Sep 2018, 07:13 I like Porter he's old school, always in great nick, looks like he lacks the quality of the top Welters but he's just so strong and aggressive, its relentless, as I said I had it even after 12 but felt Porter wanted it more

Decent scrap. I had Garcia by a couple of points. I thought Porters slow start cost him.

Yeah same, although it’s a question of what style you prefer really - I tend to favour the guy throwing the powerful accurate shots, even if he lands less than the guy who’s trying to swarm him.

Most of the time i prefer quality over quantity myself mate but it's hard to judge at times...Boxerbeetle wrote: ↑09 Sep 2018, 10:24Yeah same, although it’s a question of what style you prefer really - I tend to favour the guy throwing the powerful accurate shots, even if he lands less than the guy who’s trying to swarm him.

Close fight. Sharper punches landed by Garcia but the judges gave it to the guy with the better work rate. Difficult to complain too much really, he certainly looked like he wanted it more.
Re: Danny Garcia vs. Shawn Porter on BxNtn in UK
Garcia is a better fighter than Porter man. He'll be raging he dropped that decision!
Re: Danny Garcia vs. Shawn Porter on BxNtn in UK
nah, thats all part of how good a fighter is. garcias just a bit 1 paced and always has been . thats a flaw thats part of him. whereas shawns just got that fight in him and can really turn it up
btw ppl saying garcia was landing more effective shots but i thought if anyone looked to be making an impact and having the other guy uncomfortable it was porter
