I think golovkin was unfortunate only to be awarded 4 rounds when you assess it like that. He certainly won r12 and he won that by SD (2 judges instead of 1), this fight wouldve been a majority draw. The story of the fight for me was GGG gassing in r5 and Canelo dominating the mid rounds.

If you aggregate the round-by-round scores of Dougie Fischer (The RING), WBN, Dan Rafael (ESPN), Harold Lederman (HBO) and Alex Steedman (BT Sports), the general consensus is that nearly all of those individuals agreed on the scoring of eight rounds: with the 1st, 4th, 10th & 11th rounds being awarded to Golovkin; and with the 2nd, 3rd, 5th & 6th going to Canelo.

Their aggregated scorecards for these rounds were pretty much consistent with how the official judges actually scored them.

So, only the 7th, 8th, 9th and 12th were under question and up for debate. None of the media scores, as well as the official judges, were able to draw a unanimous verdict on the winner of those four rounds.

canelo fought an outstanding, flawless fight. he did ALL he could. golovkin showed an "iron cast" chin in a top performance, but early on seemed to hold back a tiny, tiny itsy-bitsy & could`ve pushed a bit more (maybe just showing a bit too much respect, which may be subconciously the only way he`s even capable of showing weakness, cause otherwise he showed none, zero! shaking his head in disregard of canelo´s power is no sign of being hurt like so often said, it´s the opposite. at least in golovkins case. on the 2 occasions where alvarez got obviously rocked by hard uppercuts he slipped and rolled the following punches of golovkin´s allmost all-out onslaughts just perfectly, recovered immediately and rallied back with brutality, alltough hurting ggg, even forcing him to back up BUT never able to rattle the champ himself. golovkins fault in those critical situations was that he was allmost going all-out for the knock-out, swinging solely for alvarez head and missing, would he had gone there, stiff and short, inbetween to the body, in a just slightly more measured approach, i think ggg would`ve broken down canelo and consequently brooked him up. but in those seconds he lost "it", for just moments lost control as the dominant fighter and as a consequence lost the fight that he in my opinion still won. but maybe im talking shit, implying he lost control in those seconds, he just went for the knockout, would he have connected, it might have been lights out for canelo, who just was riding those punches soo damn perfectly, hurt, on pure boxing instinct, just beautifully, maybe the most impressive scenes of an impressive fight all along. a fight in which ggg`s only chance of winning was the knockout. 12th round was canelo`s, ggg should have gotten the nod, the outcome was fixed, kellerman`s mind-numbingly retarded asscrawling disguised as an attempt to interview is an absolute disgrace, without a doubt!

once again, i apologize for how i convey my thoughts, irritating to some. :TU: i just don`t know better.

Since this is Box Rec, and 70% of the media score cards show GGG beat Canelo twice, shouldn't GGG get a " Newspaper win " like we see in the old time days?

John, what do you think?

Send the source of this information, I found only 65% for GGG and 35% Canelo and mostly aren't boxing judges or analysts, and most judge by their emotional, because are fan of the man not by reason and facts... talk even my parrot talk...
It is still 67,8% in favor of GGG, not 96%, learn how to count and rule of three....
Under 4% for Canelo, 96+ said that Golovkin should have kept his belts.

Even Kellerman who was blowing Canelo for the whole fight, gives the 12th round to GGG and has the fight as a draw:

Kellermen is right that ggg won the 12th. Giving ggg 5 rounds through 11 is a touch generous - that means giving him 2 or 3 of the close rounds.

I disagree. Canelo won the first minute clearly. GGG rocked Canelo bad in the middle of the round but he was too gassed to follow it up. Canelo recovered well and closed the round out.

Canelo did enough at the start and end of the round to outweigh the couple of shots G hurt him with in the middle. Close but clear over the 3 minutes to Canelo.

Round 9 i noted to be razor close. I wouldn't argue with G getting it too much but another example of ring generalship being the deciding factor for me.

Fwiw other razor close rounds, 3 & 11, i could easily give to Canelo but i edged them to G.

All 3 judges would have it a draw with the 12th given to Golovkin, but 2 of them HAD to give it to Canelo or they would be in big trouble.

Spare me the corruption crap with this fight - everybody thinks it was close. If they wanted to job golovkin they could have had it wider before the 12th like i did (despite having a few hundred riding on Ggg).

You can have "almost everybody but the judges scored it for GGG" or you can have "there's no reason to talk about bias," but I don't know how you think you can have both.

I've just rewatched it, I had GGG winning. The score is 1g 2c 3g 4g 5g 6g 7g 8g 9c 10g 11c 12c.

After the first watch I had also GGG, but a bit different score: 1c 2c 3c 4g 5g 6g 7g 8c 9c 10g 11g 12g.

When I watched it first time, I had general impression, that the fight could have gone either way based on different ways to score it. Yet I scored for Golovkin and so I did now. Probably I'm starting to lean towards the robbery opinion. F*ck Canelo and his judges!!!
