Is Keith Thurman in for a year and out for a year ?

Post by Evander »

I saw a recent interview with Keith Thurman and he explained himself well.
His injuries, future plans and over all well being for himself were points he covered.
But unless I'm misunderstanding he has literally no intentions [Based on boxing twice a year starting in 2019] of facing any of the top 3 fighters at Welterweight anytime soon.

You saw it eh.
He's sounds like he intends of dodging every Welterweight player throughout 2019.

Thurman is a non-factor until further notice.

I like Thurman, but even before his injuries, he lived up to his nickname, 'one time', as he usually only ever fought one time a year.

If he doesn't get back soon and fighting regularly, the WW division will pass him by, which is a shame, because he should be the main man at 147, with all roads leading to him.

I would take Spence and Crawford over a healthy Thurman right now. He would be on the Porter / Garcia / Vargas level, which is nothing to be ashamed of.

Based on what I’ve read, Keith Thurman could potentially make his ring return, which will inevitably be against relatively easy opposition, before the year end.

However, things aren’t looking good for ‘One Time’, since he’s only competed in two bouts within the last three years and by the time he does return, he’ll be an injury-prone fighter in his thirties.

I suspect that Thurman will need a couple of warm-up bouts prior to considering engaging in fights against any of his PBC top-tier 147lbs stablemates (i.e. Garcia, Porter, Spence Jr. etc.).

As we’ve already seen with the likes of David Haye, inactive fighters in their thirties that are seriously injury prone, are rarely able to regain their peak form of old when they do make their ring return.

Good analysis.

I think Keith Thurman is in the early stages of becoming David Haye.

Thurman seems to have lost his fighting heart. I'll be picking against him the next time he's facing a Live opponent.

Good point.

The WW division is stacked to the gills and has been for a while.

Yeah, of course, we should see him back first, but something tells me, he won't handle neither Porter nor Garcia again, and I'm not even talking about Crawford with Spence.

Well with only 12 responses to this topic not only has Thurman lost his desire to fight.
But it appears that we have all lost our interest in Thurman.
Sad the guy looked to have a bright future

Maybe because he continues to promise a comeback since late last year, and nothing pans out.

We're no longer paying attention to Thurman's talk and promises until something concrete shapes up.

I agree. He just needs to get in the ring
