That being said I find the constant help hes getting from judges and referee really off putting. I can understand why some people would start to hate him for that
He's knocked everyone out bar Parker, they've been redundant.

I enjoy watching him. Like others, I had him down as a retread of Bruno with the vulnerabilities that brings. When he was gassed against Wlad in the 5th, there was three of us in my front room going "Oh sh1t, Bruno again!"

But he's better than that, he's looser and faster and has a good tactical brain. I was a bit worried how low he kept his hands during the Povetkin fight, he's not Tommy Hearns or Carl Froch and it looked like the wrong tactic for him but it worked, and the finish was spectacular.

Like someone else said though, styles make fight, I can see how Fury beats Wilder, I can see how Wilder beats AJ and I can see how AJ absolutely batters Fury, this will really depend on the order that the fights happen in!

He is not, however, humble, no matter how often he says that he is. That confidence will carry him through all of the contemporary opposition for now. Usyk though, that's a great one for the future and I don't think he wins that one.

aj has been excellent for boxing

---top level and constantly fights good opposition. easily the best resume at hw now despite being pro only half the time guys like wilder, fury, ortiz have. look at it: in just the last 3 years hes fought wlad, povetkin, parker, whyte, takam, breazeale, etc.

-exciting style where he almost always delivers knockouts and goes for the kill when he smells blood. and when hes hurt he digs down and shows great heart.

--bringing a big surge in popularity to boxing and making for some massive events

ya, the hype machine can be annoying at times, but overall there are far more reasons to like aj and his impact on the sport

Hearn has brought success and also a slew of thrilling heavyweight fights to UK boxing. OK we don’t like PPV, StubHub - nor 45 minutes of Sweet Caroline before the main event.

AJ can plod (Takam, Parker) and cant keep us happy all the time with his “humble personality “ but he is recovering during exciting battles (Whyte, Wlad & Povetkin) which is a great sign and creates genuine battles. A big dude like that is going to have a few dire, slow paced fights (see even Lennox Lewis, the gold standard for super sized heavyweights).

And without him you’d think we wouldn’t have such thrillers as Whyte-Chisora, Chisora-Takam, Whyte-Parker & Povetkin-Price.

A bit better than the Williams, Audley, Sprott, Skelton battles? In fact, can someone tell me when we’ve had so many good heavyweight fights over here, ever?

I agree. Powerful influence of Eddie is annoying and even corrupt, but for the current moment Joshua has the most decisive resume and he's interesting to watch.

I doubt there’s much genuine hate for Joshua. There’s always the schadenfreude-like desire to see the look on Hearn’s face should AJ get sparked out, but I bet if people were honest they were mostly cheering him on and willing him to get through his tough patches against Wlad & Pov. I know I was.

Whether you like Joshua’s faux-humble personality or not, he’s been fvcking great for heavyweight boxing.
