Re: WBSS season 2 UK TV?
Zolani Tete defends his WBO Bantamweight title in the 2nd QF in Russia this weekend against 4-0 amateur star Mikhail Aloyan, I was disappointed in Tete against Narvaez, fair enough he won every round against a wily pro who came purely to survive but I was surprised to see Tete unable to create an opening to hurt Narvaez
I know Aloyan was a highly decorated amateur but cant remember exactly what he won, I'm sure Bronze in 2012 and Silver in 2016 which he was stripped off for PEDs, he's been matched fairly tough so far and has struggled by all accounts in his last couple, he did beat Yader Cardoza in his debut though which is decent
Surely that was just an off night for Tete against a negative opponent last time out and he's back to his best and has too much for the cheating Aloyan

i thought aloyan lost his last fight, though it was one of those ones that was close enough to go either way.
its hard for me to see him going from that to beating tete
hes been pushed in other fights too

Andrew Tabiti fighting Ruslan Fayfer in the first Cruiserweight QF on the card as well, good battle of the unbeatens, never heard of Fayfer, just had a gander at his CV and its pretty thin, I don't recognise anyone in his 23 wins, I remember being pretty underwhelmed watching Tabiti's win over Cunningham on the Mayweather/McGregor card, he's coming off a KO win over Kayode
Re: WBSS season 2 UK TV?
Tabiti will beat fayfer I reckon
Re: WBSS season 2 UK TV?
I’m really looking forward to this.

Tete struggling with Narvaez was interesting, but when you think about it he's also gone the championship schedule with Oliva and Kinoshita... Not a good sign for a supposed puncher... He can hit but the Gonya win is more akin to Hopkins blowing out Franks than McClellan taking out Bell

Tete seems a guy who's sometimes content to go the distance, he's a patient fighter and isn't really one for going in guns blazing, you do wish sometimes he'd turn the screw a bit more,Boxing Prospect wrote: ↑13 Oct 2018, 03:34 Tete struggling with Narvaez was interesting, but when you think about it he's also gone the championship schedule with Oliva and Kinoshita... Aloyan is very game. Despite the flash Kd, making this very close.

Too much pushing and holding. They were each winning them rounds too. Aloyan needs KO on my card.

Two awful fights. Tete looked awful, and not for the first time recently

Re: WBSS season 2 UK TV?
Just finished watching Tabiti/Fayfer what a lot of shite that was, I had it 114-114 but its a pity both guys couldn't have been eliminated from the WBSS coz they were both dreadful, pretty much every round was decided by a semi decent punch from one of them, neither guy looked willing or able to up the tempo and it was just awful, if anyone was to nick it I probably would've preferred Fayfer TBH he probably worked a bit harder but he can have no complaints because it was that sort of fight
I'm yet to be impressed by Tabiti, he's a bit unimaginative , looks strong but flat

Re: WBSS season 2 UK TV?
Tete/Aloyan another snoozer, I had Tete winning 116-109 but it could've been closer, there wasn't much action in a lot of the rounds, Tete scored a flash KD in the opener with a right hook and early on he was jabbing the head off Aloyan and coming over with occasional lefts, Aloyan came into it in the middle rounds but it was still slim picking as far as scoring rounds were concerned, the point deductions for both men proving it was a messy scrap, not impressed with Tete again, he's sharp and uses the jab well when he wants to but he allowed Aloyan into it, still a clear winner for me though

Re: WBSS season 2 UK TV?
Emmanuel Rodriguez making the first defence of his IBF Bantamweight title against fellow unbeaten Jason Moloney in the third QF this weekend, been hearing about the Moloney twins for a bit now but haven't seen them, Jason coming off retirement win over former Super Flyweight champ Kono, that's the only name I recognised on his CV
I really like the look of Rodriguez against Butler he absolutely schooled him, he like a terrific all rounder to me, front foot/backfoot, leading off/countering and great punch variety, never rushed his work either which is always something I like to see in a boxer, I really think Rodriguez is Inoue's main threat in the WBSS, I might be getting carried away as Butler's level is still up for debate, I might be judging Rodriguez due to me overating Butler but in all fairness to Butler, Tete is highly thought of(or was until last 2 fights) and I think Rodriguez is a class act
Looking forward to seeing Moloney, his record suggests he can punch but I'm going with Rodriguez
