Both Froch and Nelson are intelligent, articulate and with a ton of experience. However you have to understand that they are both obliged to tow the Adam Smith line.
Even that awful woman with her inane questioning was reading the Smith script.
It down to him, he is the boss and has total control.
He has always been awful and despite him now doing this for 25 years he is still as clueless as ever.

They are not obliged to do anything, they could keep their dignity and tell him to fornicate off. If you're prepared to suck someone off for money you're a whore.

It’s true about the sports journalism in this country.

When Andy Murray loses, they call him Scottish and when he wins, they call him British.

We'll call anyone British if they win anything, they only have to have been here on holiday at Butlins and we'll claim them as ours.

He really said that ?
Yeah it was something like Tony has bomber tattooed on his back as that’s his nickname and he punches hard nothing to do with what happened here at the A.Grande concert.

There was just no need to say it. I’d wager my house that nobody was liking his tattoo to a terroist attack.
Unbelievably bad timing to say that.
Yep up there with Frazier is brown bread comments.

When any British sportsman loses he's Scottish, that's just the way it is, when Amir Khan got KO'd by Prescott I heard somebody go "take that ya Scottish bastard"

Smith is a mong of the highest order though, this tiny weedy little man sits there and refers to boxing as "our sport"

Not sure why they need four commentators. HBO used to do the same. It means there's never a moment in the fight where one of them isn't talking.

I supposed it's part of the problem with the subscription TV model, they're selling you an event rather than just covering a sport.

I've read about Smiths comment but I can't believe what I read. Did he really mention bellews tattoo and clarify that it was his nickname and not a tattoo about the Manchester arena bomber? Surely not?

I can't believe even he would say something completely random and stupid. That's beyond Alan partridge. it's ridiculous

That does sound something like a Partridge skit, I agree.
I tried to youtube it, to no avail, earlier. I'm sure someone clever will get it up for us sooner or later.
I was on 5Live rather than Sky, but I normally pick up on tosh like that as it's highly annoying!

Not that 5Live escaped its share of ridicule. It seems you pays your money and takes your pick of "thicko", "moron", "a**-kisser", and so on...
Bunce has already been slammed on here but I thought he was good value - hence people keep giving him a LOT of media work.

Genuine question - is Froch actually such a company man, or is he just pisspoor at reading fights so gets influenced by the other commentators/crowd? It honestly wouldn’t surprise me if he just doesn’t know how to read a fight - he certainly wouldn’t be the first ex-pro not to be able to do so.

You see the same with football pundits - usually the guys who had the best careers are terrible at actually understanding the tactical side of things.

I have a vague memory of a fighter who I believe to be Froch being interviewed during the early part of his pro career and saying he didn't watch much boxing and wasn't really a fan. Does anybody else recall that or was it somebody else?
