Cleverly wasnt injured and neither was haye in the rematch plus thats only 3 you said 4. Every fighter has a camp and its down to the fighter wether he fights injured or not but cmon lets not pick apart the lads career,he done well to get to where he got and to make what he has made,he seen an opportunity with haye and took it,happy dayz :TU:

I'd happily watch Usyk/Briedis again. While Usyk was a clear winner for me, it was a cracking fight and Briedis was competitive right to the end.

I wasn't criticizing Bellew, just being realistic. Haye was injured in the rematch and Cleverly fought with one arm in their second fight.

I dont remember clev having a sore arm in the 2nd fight,i remember bellew hitting with everything but the kitchen sink and clev coveri g up on the ropes and haye didnt look injured till he got dropped,im not bellews biggest fan but what he has done for himself is unbelievable with a limit ability(imo). So for this he has my respect

Cleverly barely threw a right hand in the rematch. Haye was injured going into the fight, I agree with you that Bellew has achieved a lot considering his ability level and I'm really pleased for him. I don't think he would have won any of those three fights if Clev and Haye were injury free.

Haye's ankle was dodgy through his entire comeback. Watch the De Mori fight. He was tentative on his feet and reluctant to put weight over that side/load up on his punches properly even then.

His party lifestyle left him in need of a few quid, and he sold us all a lie because of that. Masternak, Cleverly, Makabu and probably even Chilemba were all better wins than Haye. Bellew knew it in the rematch too. He'd have got rid of Haye early in the first fight, if he'd fought the same way he did in the second.

Bellew lost to Usyk because he's just not on that level. Usyk was too damn good. No shame in that.

Bellew won a couple of early rounds but he was never actually winning the fight, Usyk was never in trouble and was always in control. Though I don’t understand people who scored it entirely for Usyk. The comparisons to Mayweather and McGregor are pretty spot on for me,.

Same. 2 was definitely a Bellew round, even if you believe he only won it because Usyk let him take it. 3 was too on my card.

Mayweather was carrying McGregor whereas I thought Usyk was figuring Bellew out. Far too much credit given to McGregor, he was totally outclassed and being carried. We would never see Floyd fighting that kind of fight vs Pac or Canelo. Usyk got caught with some counter rights every time he came forward so he had to adjust to that, which he did by throwing faster 1-2s with better timing. Bellew was countering his jab but Usyk was able to stop that. Usyk did get caught with too many of the same right hands for me which was worrying although he did adjust. Bellew could not adjust and ended up being a sitting duck.

Guys like Usyk are always thinking and once they figure out how to consistently land clean punches, their opponent better be able to adjust to that or he will be taking a hiding.

i agree with covfefe, it was like floyd-mcgregor in that even when one guy was arguably winning the early rounds you got the impression that the other guy had good control on the situtation and would takeover whenever he decided to go for it more. there was more of a 'carrying' element to floyd-mcgreg but still a similar thing

i do think bellew defo won 2 and 3, again, not that he was really doing much great or being overly positive, but usyk really was hardly doing much offensively and seemed to be getting more a sense of bellews movements and reactions

once usyk began upping things even just a bit offensively in the 4th he won everything imo

but that is what it was though usyk gave away early rounds, i think it was after rd4 soon as usyk changed gears the fight changed , which shows he was in control , yea bellew was in front on the cards but usyk had no intention of going to points , felt him out ,then done him ,

Scoring criteria, in particular Ring Generalship.
Ring generalship is one of the minor criteria though. Clean punching takes priority. Always. The rest are used where it's too close to call.

As good as Usyk's footwork was, Bellew landed the cleaner shots through round 2 and 3, and with greater frequency. That makes any argument for ring generalship, or anything else, null and void.

Usyk threw a lot of jabs, particularly in the 3rd, and backed Bellew up using his feet, but the jabs were just range finders. They were falling short. Bellew was countering them and landing, at that stage, even though he looked clumsy and under pressure doing so. That gives him those 2 rounds.

I don't believe Bellew landed anything clean, but i can see how you would be influenced by the crowd and commentators. Usyks jab was an effective pillar of the fight that backed up and marked up Bellew from the opening bell. I don't necessarily disagree clean punching takes centre stage but ring generalship is about who best implements their tactics/style on a fight - a finer naunce of matches that can be often missed.

If you've read any of my other posts on the subject, you'll see I've openly criticised the commentary.

I've watched round 2 back on YouTube (Russian commentary, I think). The first minute was the same as round 1. Nothing happened. Just after the minute mark, Bellew lands two straight rights to the body. Usyk is extending his right arm, as if to jab, but at least 90% are a good 6 inches short of the target. All he's doing is making Bellew think, not actually landing anything. Bellew does land 2 jabs with a bit of force behind them, but Usyk rolls/leans well to take the sting off (they do still connect). Then Bellew throws a straight right up top, which Usyk partially slips and it glances the side of his face. Another straight right, but he's misjudged distance. He connects, but he's in too close and smothers it. No power generation. The final minute is scrappier, but more of the same. The best Usyk manages, is one glancing straight left with Bellew's feet badly placed, and 2-3 tippy tap jabs. Not setting up any offence off them, just keeping Bellew on his toes and wary. Bellew closes the round with a clean straight right up top, after two previous shots are blocked.

Sorry, that was a very easy round to score. It wasn't one sided, and you felt Usyk was very comfortable, but he just wasn't doing the things you're claiming he did. 10-9 Bellew, all day long.

i feel usyk copped a few too many right hands early because he was wary of bellews 'honey punch'..... the left hook.
