I think the belt is bollocks, along with the IBF and WBO. All of which are absolute toilet. Fury might not have lost his belt in the ring, but he vacated all those titles when he retired/failed a drugs test/did loads of blow/had mental health issues.
The 'Lineal' title is usually only mentioned when someone gives up or is forced to give up their belts/title. Jeffries, Ali, Spinks and Fury for example. Me personally, I think it's a load of rubbish. Isn't Lennox Lewis still the Lineal Champion? He didn't lose it in the ring. If Lennox made a comeback, would he not also claim to be the Lineal Champion?
The criteria is generally that you either beat the holder or unify in their absence. Had Fury stayed retired and Joshua met Wilder the winner would have been accepted as part of the lineage. Some people take it seriously, others not so much. I think the problem with Joshua’s statement is that it is strikes as a bit disingenuous, like we are really expected to believe that he started out dreaming of adding the IBO to the other, more established, titles. The entire ESPN interview comes across as a bit odd, to be honest.
If Joshua and Wilder start to negotiate then the base camp is that Joshua insists it takes place on April 13 at Wembley, so they’ve immediately put Wilder in a position where he cannot negotiate or offer an alternative location or date. As we have seen previously it is not the easiest fight to put together and the last time out it took them months only for it to fall apart.
This means that they would have to agree terms by early-Jan, maybe late-Jan, at a push, as they only really have Feb and March if that is the case. I can’t see them turning it around in what is a relatively tight timescale given all that has happened before. It is almost as if Joshua and his team are saying “Take Wembley on April 13 or leave it” safe in the knowledge that his fans will blame Wilder if it doesn’t happen and lap up Whyte II. I think they may be in for a shock if that is the case and Wilder and Fury go again early in the year. People are fickle.
Announcing the two Wembley "Thanks you, fans" fights in advance probably seemed like a masterstroke at the time. In light of recent events it looks like a bit of an hinderance.
I like the ESPN interview, but that's just strokes. I like the contrast between AJ and Fury,Wilder and Whyte. Hearn can still cancel the Wembley date and did indirectly mention the possibility in an interview. If a deal can be done with Wilder, April 13th will do just fine. If that fight can't be made, then AJ has options. If he fights Whyte, he's fighting the #6 heavyweight in the world according to BoxRec. If he fights Usyk, then that's a great fight IMO. I also like the Miller fight. I'm happy with any of those three. A Klitschko rematch, I'm less interested in, but come fight night, I'd be right into it. I don't see an issue with Joshua continuing to be a huge ticket seller. I don't see a hindrance.
If they go for Wilder I imagine they'd have to cancel. The turnaround is far too tight and the precedent is that they will take a while to agreee, if at all.
I'd like to see the real Joshua, if I'm honest with you. I think there is a meaner streak waiting to come out that we see flashes off. I actually think if he let go a bit more it would help him in the ring too.
He's been great for the division and wide sport, I just always feel I'm looking at an avatar when I watch Joshua talk. The Whyte, Miller and Pulev fight were OK last month. Wilder-Fury has changed the landscape IMO. If he doesn't get either of them 2019 won't be a vintage year. If Fury wins, and he should do, then it will be a fairly bad year for Joshua.

Couldn't disagree more. Joshua is the #1 heavyweight in the world and without Fury or Wilder, he's likely going to face two guys rated in the top six or the fourth best p4p boxer in the world. Fighting any of those three will be excellent.
I don’t see why any pressure is on Joshua. He’s clearly both the number one guy and the number one draw at the weight. Fury & Wilder should be properly chasing him if they want the fight, not fanny around over getting 50% which is way more than they’re reasonably entitled to. Strikes me that they’re both happy to cash out with the Joshua fight, but otherwise they don’t want it.

For Wilder and Fury, and thankfully for us fans, they feel they have unfinished business, which to them is worth more than a big payday against banker AJ. Fans want the rematch more than a date with Joshua.

Rematch first for me. Makes winner v. Joshua that much more compelling.

I suppose. I think Joshua vs either of them prior to the rematch means both fights are still essentially superfights, but basically as long as these guys mix it up with each other in some form or another it's all good.

I think Wilder wants the rematch more than the money right now. His ego was damaged with that draw.

GOOD POST .. I agree Aj is the champ he has 3 belts , they want them , come and take them , all this 50-50 bullshit is that BULLSHIT , there not entitled to it and why should he pay it , , It does seem to be excatly that ,a cash out fight for them . Fury constantly says money does'nt matter , unless its against AJ then it does , Wilder i just don't think he wants it , even if Eddie called there bluff and gave in to them for 50% , i could see them then demanding its in the USA , and that will not happen . In fact lets see if a Fury rematch happens in the UK , i doubt it .

You'd rather "AJ" and "Eddie" turned down 50/50 in America than see the fight happen?
Why are Joshua and Hearn's bank balances so important to you?

I don’t think that’s true at all.
ya me either, the fans who seem to most passionately want a rematch straight away seem to be the 'haha nah nah aj' crowd who somehow think hes being humiliated by fury vs wilder
give me aj vs wilder or fury before the draw team go at it again, tbh i always pretty much prefer something new rather then an immediate rematch , as long as levels are comparable

There not important to me don't be silly , what do i care about either of them making 20 million extra , but why should a guy who sells out stadiums , and makes enormous money from ppv , put 3 belts on the line and givve a 50-50 split , to a guy who does'nt sell a fraction of the tickets he does , and holds 1 belt . for me 60-35- 60-40 tops for AJ - Wilder in the UK other than that Wilder is ducking ,,,, Fury well he got himself back in the mix , but he can't sell , does'nt hold a belt , refused to defend them when he did , and was caught cheating , just because he's now a name again does'nt deserve 50-50 more 60-35

There's only one boxer in history who said he'd fight for $50m and then turned it down.
Fury 5/6 to win a rematch with Wilder. I heard he’s already been back in the gym and he’s only going to improve on that first performance.
Just watched the fight again and Wilder’s immediate reaction at the final bell was worth 1000 words of his post-fight bleating on social media. He knew he had been outboxed. He knew he had lost. Everything that’s followed is just PR damage limitation.
I think Fury will do an absolute job on him in any return as his boxing IQ is not to be under estimated. Remember how he toyed with Me Chisora second time round.

Absolutely, Wilder knew he'd lost there and will lose a second time and clearly.
