I hope the yanks saw through the bullshit on what was an awful card and fast car gets a wake up call .
He'll get Danny Jacobs a shot a Alvarez, why's he worried. And have Alvarez' fights on the network he's in with.
Golden Boy was the promoter. Fast car just provided a couple of fights for the undercard.
Yeh. Was just gonna say.. Eddie actually put on 2 decent undercard fights.

GBP are the ones who had to cancel 2 decent fights.

If anything the NY fans will see this as a GBP farcical. Hearn ain’t too far off, not gonna say he hasn’t put on decent cards in the US. He just lacks a few big names.

Im glad to be amongst people who realise this wasn't Canelos 4th weight division title.
Because I'm sick and tired of hearing it in the press etc.
The belt is around the equivalent of an intercontinental. Enough said.
Thanks everyone :TU:

3rd weight actually.

The IBO is more legitimate than the Regular belt.. just because it’s the WBA.

I hope when Canelo vacated the belt, the WBA don’t have it contested for again.

Whatever brave things Rocky Fielding told us in the build up to this match you could see by his body language once he was in the ring with Canelo that he didn't believe he could win.

in his locker room right before the fight in an interview he had to be one of the most obviously unconfident fighters ive seen in a big fight.

'well, i hope i can perform well, but dont bet on me'

like said, it was very much like price vs sexton where the one guy just seemed in awe of the other

Yeah he didn't have a lot of belief in himself in the end and looked like the occasion was a bit too much for him.

Had a go though but was even more vulnerable to the body shots than I expected. Every time they exchanged Fieldings punches were much lighter than those of Alvarez.

Outclassed unfortunately.

It’s not really on the level of trying to split the atom to work out what happened

Fielding is a domestic level fighter, who went to msg for a payday he could not, and would not, get anywhere else

He is now set up, secured his families future and has dough he can invest wisely and can make work for him, would.nt be surprised if he retires now

Alvarez was having his wraps stacked, Fielding team complained and had them redone. Not the first time he's been caught out.

His trainer Jamie Moore told Boxing News: “As you can imagine because of the superstar he is, he gets the rub of the green. I’d seen somebody getting wrapped up on DAZN, they put it on Twitter, I’d seen it earlier on and I said that’s not right in this state. They were wrapping the tape numerous times round the wrist and hand. It’s stacking, you’re not allowed to do it. We raised it as an issue, the commission agreed, said, ‘No, you’re right, you can’t do it.’ I sent Nige [Nigel Travis] in and Nige got there, they’d already done it. So made them take it off, said you’re not allowed to do that. The commission agreed to take it off and then they done it again. No, take it off again. So they started going crazy. Sent five people into my room saying take the tape off his hand, I said no problem, I don’t want tape on.”

“We knew we were going to walk into those sort of situations when we were coming here so we weren’t surprised. But Nige did the exact right thing. He didn’t bow to them,” Moore continued. “He went out and got the main guy [from the New York commission] and said tell them to take that off twice. He had them do it twice. It had to be rewrapped twice and rightly so. At the end of the day there are rules and regulations and people have to stick by them. You can’t just do your own thing because you’re Canelo.”

Ive gotta say I'm a bit pissed off with Fielding for that pitiful effort, any man or woman who steps through the ropes deserved massive props but this whole "bravery" schtick that Sky were peddling was bollocks, Fielding's showing was pretty embarrassing , no tactics and looked happy to get stopped, what a waste of everyones time, he froze plain and simple he showed no more bravery than any person who boxes, ive seen journeymen regularly put in more effort

You’d think he’d had made more of the opportunity.

Im just bemused how he was so appalling, never jabbed, moved or tried to keep Alvarez on the outside, it was as if he was a sparring partner brought in to help Canelo against a tall opponent with no legs, it was feeble TBH, I cant believe how easy Canelo had it, I knew it was gonna be a tough ask and I didn't give Fielding much of a chance but look at Welborn against Hurd, that was what I would consider a brave effort, as I said I respect all boxers and I respect Fielding massively he comes across as a nice fella, I just think there's brave and theres BRAVE, Fielding was the former I'm afraid, that was by far the easiest win of Canelo's career, he done exactly as he pleased at all times

Fielding only cared about the dough, that’s it, he wasn’t hungry to fight and give a good account of himself, he was there for a cash injection

Well he had that childhood dream thing going into it didn’t he, to fight at msg, maybe that’s another reason, but for me I really don’t think he went in there with any intentions to truly “fight” and beat canelo

I don’t think he had that fire in his soul to really try :maybe:

Fielding didn't even look like he was putting real power into his punches.

To be fair, watching Canelo walk through everything GGG had to offer in his last fight and make GGG move backwards all night is pretty intimidating. Fielding fought like he was scared of Canelo in there. He reminded me of Lockett at times vs Pavlik. Both were happy to take a knee.

A replay, shown Sunday morning averaged 52,000 viewers.

Was a poor effort from Fielding, very disappointing in fact, though no-one gave him a prayer I thought he'd at least try and throw the kitchen sink at him and go out on his shield, he looked like he was being bullied in the playground tbh. As someone said, his punches lacked any conviction, almost like he was pulling them? l actually wondered if any of Rockys mates had bets on what round it would be stopped!
