wooden

eastern european amateur in style

going back in straight lines all the time

stood too 'square on'

slow and pondeous

completely outclassed

completely outgunned

not as good as his brother

guilty of his mouth writing pre-fight cheques that his boxing skills could not cash
im not sure that hes not as good as his brother, his brother got battered probably worse when he stepped up vs vassell and of course was stopped faster by williams
his brither was at least competitive v williams

Williams is a solid domestic/European level fighter, step him up any higher he'll get beat handily.

Heffron came across really badly at the pressers constantly saying he was going to knock Williams out and plaster his nose across his face. He was at it again at the weigh-in with his chavvy pals abusing Williams.
After losing every round before getting stopped he should find a particularly large rock to go and hide under.

Heffron was terribly basic in what he did and was not adapting. I was watching it and noticed how he was lazy with his jab - either lacking a snap with it, or bringing it back low and Williams would time it perfectly to crack him with eye-catching right hands over that lazy jab. Watch the fight again and you will notice it. All those big flush rights where over a lazy jab.

Nice win and I do like Williams but as someone has already said, I am not sure I can buy into him being beyond British level on the basis of beating a guy who proved not even that level.

I was surprised Heffron was so bad. I remember reading someones post or it could have been one of those youtube boxing channels that mentioned that lazy jab but I thought Heffron looked pretty good overall. Williams proved everyone wrong and completely schooled him. It's hard to forget Williams loses to Smith though, that kind of showed his level as fringe world level. So that means Heffron is barely British level. It really wasn't a competitive fight in any respect.

Yeh I agree, I'm a Manchester lad and found myself rooting for Williams due to Heffron and his chavvy Oldham pal's antics.
He really didn't do himself any favours, came across as arrogant and cocky with a daft smirk on his face at all times.

Heffron another one guilty of believing his own hype on the way up beating lower level guys with ease with a group of chavvy mates feeding his ego, but clearly hadn't spent enough time working on his very obvious boxing flaws.

there will be less chavvy mates now...........they will disperse along with the unbeaten record and the 'beast' tag.

The hype train met the freight train. Heffron is not good, but he'd have beaten another domestic level prospect.

Williams is the most underrated boxer in the sport. He's the total package. In time those Smith losses will be seen as flukes. Williams is WORLD CLASS. Mark my words.

I don't think we can overlook the smith fights. They showed his level. He was in against a novice here really. Heffron didn't perform to a high level at all. Hopefully heffron learns and comes back. Would have liked to see him survive to the final bell as getting stopped like that can take something out of a fighter. He struck me as someone who would benefit from Adam booth. Add in more feints and movement. He just kept following William's around and getting countered. His punches had no snap although he was countering to the body with the left hook nicely.

Williams beat Smith in that first fight. I don't care what anyone says, the refereeing was absolutely disgusting. The second fight was close.

That being said he isn't world class

ya he was winning the first fight handily for me, even if smith was coming on smith wouldve had to win all the remaining rounds to get a draw on my card. second fight was close. they are very similar in level

not saying williams is world class but defo feel he has the ability to do well on the euro scene

Billy Joe Saunders looked awful, teamed up with Ingle and looked the business. It will be interesting watching if Williams can progress. With his promoter he can't be far off WBO no.1 :D
