The last senior citizen he fought was ranked the 3rd best heavyweight in the world after Anthony Joshua and Deontay Wilder. After talks with Wilder broke down he fought the next highest rated fighter in the division. Seems like a good move to me.

Thus far in 2018 we have had five fights between guys generally ranked in the top 10.

I don't think thats far behind the highest yearly total of fights between top contenders in the 1990s.

Well, in another post you felt that only Lewis and Holyfield fought a lot of top fighters in the 1990s since you all about comparing apples to apples, and always like to be fair, lets take Joshua and Wilder the two best fighters out of the equation.
That leaves us with only one other fight between two of the top 10. (The White-Parker showdown) for the entire year. Wow, what a year.

It wasn't a great year by any means but it is easily comparable in terms of matchmaking to your average 90s year.

For example in 1998 as far as I can tell the only fight between two guys ranked in the top 10 was Hasim Rahman vs David Tua. You could maybe argue that Shannon Briggs vs Lennox Lewis is another example but I don't see a good case for putting Briggs in the top 10. Most people felt he didn't deserve the decision against Foreman and this was a version of Foreman that hadn't beaten a ranked opponent in years.
